Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
He was watchful of her, even despite that charade of being dazed he seemed to wear. As if he'd been so focused on the cars and the races and the crowd that he hardly seen her there, everything about the man remaining distinctly relaxed as he seemed to refocus himself, an apology of sorts on his lips as her attention fell upon him in full and her own annoyance seemed to shift into some measure of a warmed look. He could smell her. That borrowed blood in her own veins calling to him amongst the scent of rubber and fuel, perfume and aftershave that seemed to permeate the air. The very thought of just how she might taste threatened to bring him undone well before he'd even started and yet he was trying out this new idea of control Damon had seemed so desperate to teach him about. Arlo refusing to let that simper waver even despite the effort to clamp shut his jaw the mere scent of her was taking. That momentary confusion he had expected to see lingered upon her features, his lips parting to seize that opportunity before she suddenly spoke again, the woman suddenly seeming to agree that she did, perhaps, recall him. Alright then. This was unanticipated. Arlo momentarily left wondering if he truly did know this woman and yet....she wasn't in his book. He was sure of it. If he'd fed from her before she'd have been in the book. The idea she might simply be playing along so as not to appear rude occurring vaguely to him and yet that was unusual for their species. Vampires so tended to be blunt. Amusement tugging slightly at him now and yet his features remained decidedly neutral.
Those almost silken words she offered saw one eye lift just slightly and yet that good-nature simper remained in place all the same, Arlo working to remain the picture of veritable innocence in this before her hand reached out to brush at the fabric off his jacket. The sudden, increased closeness of her skin brought with it a new wave of that intoxicating scent, his near azure-blue eyes widening slightly before he simply bit down more firmly, determined to keep his own jaws closed and keep himself from lunging at her. God, just hunting them down was far easier than this. Why Malek and Sebastian and Damon all seemed to put in this sort of effort into their hunting he hardly knew and yet this one was older then him too- he was sure of that. Arlo decidedly young in vampiric years and by that standard alone the man was willing to at least be a little cautious of his supposed victim. The woman smiling at him readily now as Arlo merely tried to swallow that hunger again and keep up his little ruse. Her assurance that she was surprised to see him here amongst cars and revving engines met with a ready shrug off his shoulders. The younger vampire quick to turn those words back upon her. What sort of game was she playing at here? She didn't actually know him. He was sure of that- intrigue lingering somewhere within his gaze now. No one had ever tried to out-do him at his own game before.
"I could say the same to you. This hardly seems your scene either- but we didn't discuss our mutual and yet hidden passion for all things engine based did we?"
His words were easy, light, another flash of that smile offered as those all-too blue eyes met her own once more. She was pretty, he was willing to admit that much, that momentary distraction from the scent and taste of her allowing him to observe that much before she claims she'd been a little drunk the last time they'd met, an excuse for her hazy mind and an inability to remember his name when he surely remembered hers. Yeah. Sure. Her Name. Right. Arlo's head simply shook softly, arms folding lightly over his chest at that prompted question. If he gave his real name and this night ended badly he be in more trouble then he already was. He was unknown to the coven here so far. He needed it to stay that way. The local hunters lenient with him only because he was so often to followed behind them and clean up their mess like the veritable vulture he truly was. After all- why waste good blood? Hunter's were so keen to spill it and he, in turn, was entirely willing to scavenge the scraps they didn't need. It was a rare night that the man hunted so boldly as he did now. The Crusnik tempting his own control. The words he offered almost mischievous then.
"Babe, you know I don't call anyone by their names."
That much was true at least, when it came to women Arlo was notorious for calling them everything under the sun other than their given name. How that drove Mi mad. The vampire feigning a hurt expression then.
"As for forgetting my face, I'm shocked, I totally thought we had something that night. Maybe it was the drinking. It's James- since you forgot."
Well- that wasn't totally a lie either. James was part of his name, just not the first part. Arlo oblivious to the error he'd made in agreeing with her notion of drinking. A soft chuckle rising within his throat all the same, Arlo hardly taking his own words seriously, the man offering that good-natured personality he tended to offer most. After all, people tended to become comfortable around him quickly- why not use it to his advantage, or at least try too? Either this one was going to fall for it or she wasn't. Arlo more prone to flight over fight in any situation- for now though, he was mostly sure he had that upper hand. His head gesturing away from the crowd a little.
"You busy tonight? We should catch up away from this crowd a little. Fancy a walk?"
He needed her away from the crowd, away from anyone who might see him. He was alive because the other vampires didn't know he was here, in this city. Only a handful of them were away of his presence and those, for the most part- they had proven to be willing victims. Sebastian and Malek both offering him their blood if only for that feeling his venom gave them once he bit down. This woman was still unknown. Whether she would willingly allow him to feed from her yet to be seen. His gaze rested upon her, curious to see if she'd accept that offer, after all, she was a vampire, what did she truly have to fear in the night?
