The evening sun wears on and it's almost time for the moon to rise and the night creatures to come out of their safe little cubbies. I almost pity them. I've traveled all day from the last city I settled in. Of course, settling never got further than a fancy hotel room and a bar to sink my sorrows into every night. There was no one of interest by the end of the week so I decided it was time to move on. I walked all the way here, having no desire to hop a bus or train and no inclination to buy a mode of transportation. Sure, I have the funds but why waste it on something I would despise using? I enjoy being out in the warm sunlight, letting it dance across my pale skin as I walk. I know most of my kind can't enjoy this simple luxury so I'd like to say I'm savoring it for all of my kind. Once I'm in town, I waste no time in finding a good hotel to stay in until I pick out a place. That is, if I end up staying. Within minutes, I'm unpacking my stuff in the room. I stay for an hour to see if there's anything worth watching on TV but I should have known the answer to that beforehand. Sighing as I cut it off, I grab my wallet and head out, making my way down the street. I nod and smile at a few people, reading by their expressions that they see no reason to fear me. Good, then my mask is working, cause I am certainly something to be feared. I pause when I see the sign for The Voodoo Room, curiosity shining in my bright blue gaze. What's this? A club? A bar? Something in between? Unable to help myself, I head inside. The people in here are different than in other night clubs. There's no wild dancing on the dance floor and most of the people in here are dressed nicely, not in trashy outfits that show their second job. Deciding to stay for a while, I head to the bar and order a shot of Tequila. It's not anything affects me. Once the bartender slides it over, I down it in one gulp before letting my gaze sweep over the rest of the patrons. Most are human but I can smell other supernaturals like witches and Weres. The vampires haven't come out yet but I bet they frequent places like this too. My gaze pauses when I see a girl in the corner booth nursing her drink. Whiskey straight. I can smell it from here. I smile and turn back to the bartender. "Have you seen this man?" I pull the picture from my wallet and flash it to him. After a moment of consideration, he shakes his head. Frowning in disappointment, I put the picture away and sigh, turning from the bar. I look over the bar once more, my eyes sweeping across the lovely blonde once more. I've always had a penchant for blondes. I glance back at the bartender, who's ready to tend to his other customers, having given up on me ordering anything else. "Hey, get her another Whiskey glass, on me." I watch with a smile as he pours it and walks it over to her booth, tilting my head as I wait for her reaction as he sets it down and gestures his head toward me. I've never been one for subtlety and she looks a little lonely. Hell, I feel a little lonely so why not? |
