The young doctor is entirely unaware of the urges Dareios has... urges she wouldn't understand, at least not yet. It perhaps, wasn't something she was unaware of in this moment, the blood pulsating through her veins decidedly making her... appetizing. A meal. Though she had accepted Dareios as a vampire, Miya didn't realize the need he must have felt as he raced through the city with her warm body clutched to his. So, as she regains her composure and her eyes linger on the Mayor's fangs, she hardly realizes that it was because of her. She was the reason those fangs came out to play and of course she makes things worse by asking about them. The embarrassed flush that comes over her is immediate, her gaze darting to the ground, missing the way he stiffens at the question. His curtness does, however, have her pulling her shoulders inward, a wince lining her face. How rude could she possibly be!
She's entirely lost on the fact that Dareios is stung by the term friend, the petite woman hardly having dated. And even though she found the mayor charming and dashing, she was certain he would never return such... feelings, right? The apology that falls from Dareios's lips has her snapping her head back up, the loose strands of hair flying as she gazes up at him, innocent eyes wide, "No, no you have no reason to apologize!" She exclaims quickly, her hands gesturing wildly, "It was a rude question, I should be the one apologizing. I was just... curious. I think it's the medical side of me," she winces, looking away. Miya didn't want Dareios to feel like a test subject and yet, she could hardly repress the idea of wanting to explore him, as a vampire. A silly thought, something she would never be brave enough to ask.
Finally, they are making their way towards the dank apartment building as she hesitantly spills part of her story. It was almost a methodical explanation, the woman hardly wanting pity from the Mayor and yet, she hadn't realized she was complaining to the Mayor of all people about how expensive rent was in the city. It didn't really dawn on her that she had done such a thing until Dareios comments about the price of rent that has her pausing in her steps to look at him, embarrassment flooding the woman again. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you think you were doing a bad job or anything like that with rent prices," she winces, "Lots of people can afford rent in the city," she tacks on as if that was going to smooth over her comments. Sighing heavily, she isn't prepared for Dareios's offer, her chocolate gaze glancing back at the dark-haired man, the feel of his cool palm on her arm has her looking at it, a shudder running through her - though its hardly one of fear, it was... something else. Something she couldn't quite put her finger on, happiness? Pleasure? Joy? A combination of the three? She had hardly ever been intimate with a man before, and even with her ex-boyfriend, she had only let him kiss her. She was certain, tonight she had touched Dareios more than she had ever touched another man in her life! Well, the hospital didn't count.
"Thank you, Dareios," she smiles up at him gently, "But I'm okay, I appreciate the offer though," she says sincerely. Miya was not one to ask for anything in her life, even when Dareios was practically offering to fix all her problems, it was not something she would take him up on. As they finally enter the apartment, Miya moves efficiently before they are seated at the table, her dark locks falling around her face, making her look almost younger in that moment. She thanks him again for the night before the Mayor is responding, her cheeks instantly taking on a red hue. Sitting up straighter, "I wasn't -," she cuts herself off, "You make it sound so dirty," she practically whispers the last word, "I was just about to call you before you showed up," she explains again, practically spluttering over her sentence as Dareios's laugh rings out. She knows he's joking and yet, she can't help but feel embarrassed by being caught with his business card tucked in her hand and napping on the bench.
She's saved from further embarrassment as the kettle begins to squeal loudly, Miya hopping up quickly, legs bumping it Dareios's in the small area before she all but darts towards the stove. Her hair sways lightly as her mind is distracted with the man behind her. It's with that distraction that she turns off the stove and reaches for the metal handle - without a towel, and wraps her hands around it. An audible hiss escapes her lips as she jerks her hand backwards, an angry red mark on the palm of her hand as she rushes towards the sink. Turning the faucet on, she all but shoves her hand beneath the cool water. "Ah, sorry, just give me a second and I'll get the tea," she calls over her shoulder as she allows the cool water to chase away the burning sensation.
