Even as I wait for Kohl's response, my eyes continue to sweep the room. I never drop my guard, call it second nature by now. A vampire walks in, a tall blonde one. He'd actually be considered good looking if he still had a pulse. He makes his way over to the ever growing group of weres and vampires and drops to his knees, coazing a single brow to lift in amusement as my lips twitch toward a smirk. What a show. A man walks in next and heads straight to the bar after a disinterested look around which leaves me to guess he either doesn't know anyone here or doesn't know hardly anyone. Either way, he's more interested in a drink than company. Losing interest quickly, I watch as the brooding green eyed man barely reacts to Kohl's comment, his jaw clenching as his lips tighten and that's about all the reply he gets as the were girl steps forward to save him. He simply looks her way before downing his drink and as he slams it on the bar, he stands. I turn my head, giving him a little more attention just in case as he grabs for the girl's hand and leads her out to the floor. I don't know if it was to stop anything from happening or what but I shrug it off as I turn back to my watching. The witch guy and girl seem to be staring at each other an awful lot but I can see the confidence plastered on the girl's face, enough to tell me that she's not going to make the first move. Those types never do and frankly, I don't blame her. She sits on the chair that the hunter vacated, like a queen waiting for her subjects to approach. She seems to have more than one on a string so I give her a silent cheer for waving that magic wand. Meanwhile, I know I have Kohl's attention from the moment I whisper in his ear. He always has had a thing for my teasing aspects. As I step around him, I can feel his eyes trailing down my form fitting dress and it makes goose bumps on my skin only because I know he doesn't really have to imagine what's under it, not anymore. The thought alone is a barb in my flesh because I never meant for it to happen, never meant to give in. Somehow Kohl was able to get under my skin and he keeps doing it again and again. I know I should probably get some distance from him but the thought worries me and not just about his health. I know about his power and I know he's not an ugly man so maybe I do have some issues with him seeing other women. It shouldn't be a problem for me since he used to see lots of women all the time but he's slowed down since our little encounter and maybe a part of me hopes it has something to do with me. He did ask to make us exclusive after all. At least, I think that's what he was asking. He chuckles when I ask about the party, saying it's his turn to choose the activity. I tilt my head, eyes glistening with daring. "Touche. Fine, your turn, it is." I sigh as if it will be pure torture though the smirk on my lips says otherwise. He folds his arms across his chest and leans forward, his sunglasses leaning forward a little to show me the blue gold of his eyes. He nods toward the dance floor and I glance that way with an innocent expression as if I have no idea what he's hinting at. His next comment has me practically bristling though I'm good at hiding it. My brows knit together a little, my jaw clenching a little as he motions toward other women he could dance with. Does he have to tease me so? He smirks to let me know he's playing, causing me to shift a little in discomfort. He even grins at the last girl, a pretty blonde, before holding his hand out to me. I scowl, following his gaze to the blonde though I try not to give her an ugly look since I'm not supposed to care about things like this. "She can probably entertain you better than I can." I manage to murmur as I reluctantly put my hand in his and follow him onto the dance floor. I did note the were girl's challenging gaze as she had turned to me before, rolling her eyes at my suggestion on the handling of her knife. Let her believe she knows her stuff better than me. I've been dealing with knives my entire life as a hunter. I could hit a target in my sleep at this point. I would have been more than happy to show her my skills with a blade since I currently have twelve hidden on my person but instead she is whisked away by the were guy with green eyes so I'm left to brush my adrenaline aside for something more...tame. I'm not a bad dancer. I've picked up more than a few moves in my hunting days since sometimes you have to lure your prey with more than just a knife through the heart. I've romanced more than my share of killers and sometimes they like to see what you've got on the dance floor before they'll even bother to take it any further. Once we're on the floor, I give the were couple a glance before I brush them out of the foresight of my mind, keeping my other senses on alert just in case but otherwise my attention is now on my dance partner. I expertly move my free hand to his shoulder while I keep the other safely in his palm. The heat of his touch and of his gaze is enough to make me feel naked but I try not to let the vulnerability show, exhaling one good time before I give him a sly simper. "I'll even be nice and let you lead...for now." |
