Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
New Year's Eve, it seemed, had been the last evening in which Sebastian was provided a full evening of his lover's attention in it's entirety before the pair were thrust into the constant limelight of that Italian media. Though, it was true that the vampire often preferred to remain under the radar, so to speak, he found himself not nearly as burdened at their sudden prominence in society as his lover had. The flurry of activity was accepted with the usual grace, those hours before their balcony appearance spent more in an effort to reassure the King then his own usual fretting. People, it seemed, were Sebastian's specialty. And really, why wouldn't they be? His very existence not only relied upon them but, many of his affinities too so focused upon the individual. Despite his particularly pleasant and wholly placid demeanor, even Sebastian had not been entirely prepared for the sheer amount of people that had crowded beneath them, much less the bright lights that so flashed against his nearly predatory vision. That roar of the crowd had been yet another assault on the vampire's senses and yet, that warm simper never once faltered from his features, the Englishman entirely determined not to let his lover down in this role of Consort so early on. Thankfully, those minutes slipped by easily enough and soon, the pair were back in the warmth and quietude of those palace walls - the same as they largely remained for the greater portion of the days to follow.
In truth, it was that swarm of the Media that had caught him off guard more than all else. After all, he had known well the type of attention his lover would receive at so being declared King of Italy after the country had remained largely free of their monarchy for centuries. It was only natural that they would take such an interest within Dorian though he had failed to consider the number of news articles and celebrity gossip columns that he too now filled in the days after - not only in Italy but also worldwide. He was hardly surprised, however, the amount of smear campaigns and publicists that took offense to his existence at the King's side. After all, he had known ever since they had made those plans to return to Italy the plethora of individuals that would abhor his relationship with their monarch and yet, despite all of that, Dorian's affections never seemed once to waver. Rather, the King made every effort to somehow please the vampire - that fact entirely apparent in the amount of effort it certainly must have taken for the pair to visit that magnificent Italian theatre, though truly they public themselves seemed all the more stunned at their appearance, nearly flocking to them whenever possible.
The palace itself had become quite a sanctuary in those evenings, his needs for food altogether satisfied by the numerous individuals upon Dorian's staff, all of whom seemed quite eager to place themselves in the role of victim for his benefit. It was greatly appreciated, of course, the man hardly wanting his habits to so taint his lover, much less appear on the cover of those scandalous magazines. Thankfully, any need to placate those journalists were altogether nonexistent, the crown itself had vastly more control over what was printed then Sebastian had ever anticipated, though in truth he had little interest in ever seeing those spreads made about them - at least, until the name of one particular magazine made Benito's nightly list. That very mention of Vogue immediately caught his attention, appealing to, perhaps, the vain side of the vampire. It was them alone he was interested in, as perfectly nonsensical as it was to appear on the cover of a fashion magazine, a part of him relished in the notion. It was mere days later in which Sebastian found himself settled upon a sofa with that smartly dressed journalist in front of them, her questions already pre-screened and any pertaining to topics himself or Dorian disliked had already been removed. All in all, the interview had gone relatively well and, soon enough, the woman rose to dismiss herself, leaving the vampire alone with King he so cherished.
He was hardly surprised in the way Dorian so immediately reached for that tie, loosening it before flopping unceremoniously upon his lap. That simple action prompted a chuckle from the vampire as he reached down, gingerly stroking the King's cheek in a fashion that was altogether adoring. That soft press of Dorian's lips against his jawline only further prompted that grin upon his features as he listened to that soft breath of air that left his lover's lips. That question he was finally afforded saw the man shrug but ever so slightly. "I am sure they will be disappointed, ma Biche, but they can hardly stop you. You should still keep an eye on the President though." He stated, that caution surely filling his voice in that moment. After all, though the people loved Dorian, monarchies had been overturned often enough for far pettier things than not being involved. Perhaps not England's but...he hardly wished to risk it all the same. He knew well of his lover's desire to see the world that was now afforded him and yet, Sebastian hardly wished to see that throne at risk either. The President perhaps the only soul who seemed malicious enough to make any efforts to circumvent that crown.
That very mention of the President so seemed to draw the King to mention their own need to change for that official engagement with court before their meeting with the man Sebastian took such a dislike to. A soft breath left his lips and yet, the vampire nodded, not a word of complaint leaving his mouth as he fit his hand in Dorian's own, allowing the fae to drag the vampire to his feet. He followed the King back towards those familiar rooms he'd begun to take such a liking to, entirely unprepared for the fashion in which Dorian's voice so seemed to drop as they walked to a tone that was but a mere whisper. His eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly in confusion and yet, he could hardly deny he was glad they no longer had to meet with the President. Still, clandestine plans made the man slightly...concerned, enough so that he found himself inquiring, "Are you sure this is wise?" His crystalline gaze fluttering towards the King in consideration though, he'd hardly argue with the man in the slightest if Dorian insisted. That grin that he was answered with only caused his eyebrows to raise ever so slightly, the vampire well aware of what such a look meant and, in turn, knew better then to ask after it any further. A soft sigh was the only resignation he gave before his fingers moved to his own tie, loosening it as he began to change into that far more formal attire.
That dress shirt was buttoned, the man moving with ease to fix that navy blue tie around his own neck before slipping on that finally pressed jacket. His own thoughts lingered entirely upon those instructions Dorian had provided him with the night before on where to sit and how to enter before the King's voice so interrupted his thoughts. His gaze shifted with the sound of his name and yet, the sight of that tie caused a soft chuckle to leave his lips. "I can see that." He uttered, crossing the room to gingerly tug at that cloth in an effort to undo it before his fingers toyed with the silken material, repeating those same practiced steps he'd done for centuries. It took but a moment before he was finished, the man reaching up to fold Dorian's collar over the tie and hide that noose-like ribbon from view. He glanced down at the touch of Dorian's own fingers straightening that one he wore, a small simper crossing his lips at that tender and yet, wholly simple moment. It was perhaps that acute awareness to his lover that so saw a glimpse of inquisitiveness cross his features as Dorian stepped away from him, all too aware of that flutter within the man's heart and yet, he hardly asked after it, not until Dorian offered but a small glimpse of the King's thought. "Oh?" He inquired, that simple word so attempting to prompt his lover without providing the King any confirmation or additional reason to fret. "What is it?"
