Sacrosanct contains four distinct neighborhoods, each with their own specific kind of houses and residents. Explore our districts, view lists of our citizens and enjoy our block parties!
Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He was glad his parents didn't know his new number. They wouldn't be able to contact him unless he was the first one. He made sure to call only his mother's cellphone, trusting in her not to give it to his dad cause she knew how they felt about each other. He hadn't called yet since reaching Sacrosanct. He knew his mother would be worried but he wanted the time to really settle in. He also wanted to make sure he would have something to tell her. Just reaching a new town might be enough for her but it wasn't for him. Things were getting better by the day though. Soon he would be able to tell her that he had a steady job and he'd met a fascinating woman. Now, he already knew what his mom would think of that. He could practically hear her giggling like a school girl through the phone at just the idea of telling her. He might have to keep Adelaide to himself until he figured out just what there was to talk about. Yes, he'd stood up for her and then brought her home to let her doctor up his wounds and they'd had a deep conversation about their pasts then she'd offered him a job and saw him out. It all seemed pretty innocent when he put it like that in his head but he knew there was more to it. He just didn't know what to make of it yet. He could only imagine what Townsend must have had to say about him after he left. He was sure Townsend would want him out of Adelaide's life. He wasn't exactly the type of guy anyone would want around a girl like her. He wasn't noble. He wasn't proper. He didn't have money or power. Townsend would want better for her and he didn't blame him one bit. He only hoped to at least have a friendship with the girl, though he wondered how well he would be able to keep that up. It was obvious that he was attracted to her, but he'd been attracted to girls before and kept them as just friends. He knew it was folly in the end to think he could continue to be that with Adelaide. There was a connection there, even if it was one sided. He wanted to know as much about her as he could. He wanted to explore that connection and see if there was anything else there. He was patient though. He could only imagine what they must have to say about him once he was gone. If she had told Townsend about the situation at the burlesque, he was sure it would only turn Townsend more against him because he would only think of his violent tendencies. That's how most people tended to see it. He attracted trouble, or rather, he went looking for it. He could only hope that when he showed up the next morning, he wouldn't be met with a barred door and a rejection of his service. He hoped she wouldn't change her mind about him. He could feel the chill in the air as he got on his bike but he knew he would warm up quick enough once he got moving out in her yard. He was usually pretty warm blooded naturally so the cool breeze would only be a blessing on his sleeveless arms once he got working. He put on some old sneakers, something comfortable to work in so he wouldn't get blisters. Maybe if this job worked out, he would go get some good boots but for now, these would do. As he pulled up to the house, he exhaled as he looked at it in the daylight. It really was huge. How could just two people live here? Even with the two big dogs, it was still a lot of space. He could see the lights were on in some of the rooms so they must be awake. "Here goes nothing." He whispered to himself as he headed to the door. He rang the doorbell and wondered idly if Reginald and Rose would be one of the first to greet him at the door. Lo and behold, it was the glittering eyes of Adelaide that were the first he saw when the door opened. His own gleamed back in response, his lips quirking as he went to step in. "Yes ma'am. Can't hurt to butter up the supervisor on the first day." He went to follow her though he tensed a little as she suddenly reached out, running her hand down his arm. He swallowed, watching her face again and remembering anew just how beautiful she was now that he could see her in the daylight. His skin tingled again at her gentle touch, his gaze moving to follow her own. His arm didn't hurt much today and it seemed to be healing fine. It made sense that she would want to check on her work. "Of course. Ready and willing to knock this yard into shape." His eyes glittered teasingly. He followed her around the house. He wouldn't even know how to get to the room they were in last night if it weren't for her guidance. He glanced around the house curiously as he walked, still taking it all in. He glanced back at her when she mentioned that Townsend had to run some errands but that she would let him know Taylor was early. "Much appreciated. I'm sure showing up on your doorstep with a Harley for transportation and sporting a bloody arm wasn't quite the best first impression for him. Only punks with no ambition and no future ride motorcycles, you know." He whispered the last part to her like it was common knowledge gossip, pretty much quoting what he'd heard most of his life from the housewives of this generation. He watched her work in the kitchen, taking a seat before he cleared his throat. "Can I help with anything? I'm not a five star chef by any means but if you explain what you want done, I could probably figure it out." He offered, looking over everything she had set out. Man, it smelled amazing. She was even making coffee. He inhaled the sweet aroma. How long had it been since he'd had homemade coffee? He'd been drinking it at cafe's and diners on the way here for months, it felt like. He thought for a moment at her offer. Would it seem like he was taking advantage if he said yes? "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so I'm told. I would love that, thanks. I'll try not to eat you out of house and hold. I'm still trying to convince myself that I'm a growing boy." He glanced down as Reginald walked over, his lips tugging into a beaming smile at the sight of the dog who had taken a liking to him. He immediately put out his hand to scratch the dog's ears, enjoying the look of pleasure on his face, even as he glanced up to see Rose watching him warily. He sighed softly, even as he continued petting and scratching Reginald. "I'm not giving up on you. Just wait. I'll grow on you." He encouraged her matter of factly. |
