Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
She was beyond relieved when Nadya corrected her about the whole doctor situation, telling her that she didn't have to have sex with the doctor. Her brow raised when Nadya pointed out that the doctor was a woman and that she just takes a look. Nadya tilted her head. "They give you pills just to look at what's between your legs? Seems like kind of a silly trading system if you ask me but okay, I'm game." She shrugged it off and ate another handful of chips. Nadya assured her that she would leave a note and take her that herself and Malia felt a lot better just knowing that. She smiled and nodded. "Thanks, Nadya. I'll probably feel better if someone I know is with me." Then they started talking about the children. Malia loved to hear about the cubs since she didn't get to see them so much. Nadya explained to her that preschool was just the beginning of the whole education thing. Malia's mouth parted in shock as she listed off the others. "Oh no! How will I ever get smart if I have to do all that first? I don't have that many years!" She actually looked nervous for once in her life. She didn't know how her life span would go. She knew that coyotes only seemed to last about 15 years or so. How long did she have left? Malia could tell by the way Nadya's face lit up that she loved to talk about her children. It made Malia smile just to listen, but then Nadya's face sobered and she started talking about her son Micah. She was scared of something. But what? She was trying to understand this whole necromancer thing. Nadya explained that it meant he was powerful which Malia thought was a good thing cause who doesn't want their child to grow up and be strong and independent? But apparently there was more to this whole necromancer thing than just that. Then Nadya started explaining more about it and Malia found herself leaning forward, her eyes widening. Still dead but able to move because someone else wills it? She was starting to get the fear now. Just the thought had goosebumps popping up on her arms. She listened intently as Nadya spoke of undead armies and the great and terrible power it could be. She swallowed and nodded. "You're right. Death is supposed to be about peace, at least till the vultures find you." She had a cold chill at the thought. She'd seen the vultures get at the bodies of dead coyotes before. It was always a silent scene. Nadya was afraid someone would use Micah's power, use him. Malia could understand that, her brows furrowed in concern. Then she said that she had a plan, to use a witch to hold back his power. Malia bit her bottom lip thoughtfully. She let out a long breath before speaking. "I didn't even know about witches till recently. I wouldn't exactly call him a friend but I did fight off a big beast thing in the park with a witch. He was okay, I guess. I didn't get his name but I could probably track him." She shrugged, hoping that would be enough. Then she looked at Nadya again. "I understand that you're scared for him. I get it. You can't keep it from him forever though. I'm not telling you how to be a mother or anything. Lord knows I wouldn't know how to do it. I just don't want this to tear you two apart later on down the road. Even if you're trying to protect him...kids hate finding out their parents have secrets, especially ones about them. I hate that I don't have mine to talk to about being a Were." Her face was soft as she waited for it to sink in, hoping Nadya wouldn't take it the wrong way and think she was telling her what to do. |
