Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
death incarnate & night triumphant
That devilish grin seems to spread ever wider across his dark lips as he prowls towards the woman, and yet, he's entirely pleased that Lani doesn't show an ounce a fear, she hardly moves a step away from him. Quickly scooping up into his arms, her head safely tucked beneath his chin, he grips her gently though she is completely secure within those strong arms. Launching himself into the sky, he can feel her hands tighten on his jacket, his grin growing wider as his hazel eyes glance down just in time to see her squeeze hers shut. As they finally bank across the city, he leans down and whispers in her ear, feeling the way her heart thunders in his chest, reverberating off his hands. Andras is delighted the way she takes in the world beneath her, no fear held in her eyes as she glances at Somnia with joy and wonder, how utterly beautiful she was in this moment, the wind tousling her hair, her cheeks stained pink with the cold; if Andras didn't need to worry about the cold for the young woman, he would stay like this for hours, her in his arms, soaring across the wintery landscape. It's her response that has him faltering for a moment, dark eyes flashing towards her as they drop several feet, only to regain altitude with a powerful downward stroke of his wings.
Never in all his immortal existence had he ever met someone quite like Lani, who gave him such wicked pleasure to be around and who surprised him constantly. And truly, Andras could picture it; those magnificent wings sprouting from her back, flying next to him, their wing tips brushing each other playfully and simply flying until the sun rose. It was a dream that was so entirely out of reach to him but it was a nice thought nevertheless, something he could picture when that lonely immortality continued onwards. "I think... I would very much like that," Andras murmurs to her, lowering his face even more to nuzzle his cold nose into her ear, a dark chuckle rolling off his tongue as they quickly approach their destination. That lone structure dark against the stark white snow, smoke billowing out from the chimney; it's only then that Andras throws her the devilish smile, his eyes narrowing with that predatory look as he meets Lani's gaze. He hardly gives her a chance to question the look as Andras simply folds his wings into his back, tilting forward at the rocket towards the ground, his laughter echoing off the trees.
For good measure, the Fae man throws in several hollering whoops in there as he feels Lani wrap her arms around his neck in a death grip, which in turn, only makes the man laugh louder. Andras is entirely surprised he isn't able to get the woman to scream, though his sensitive ears don't seem to mind. As they approach the forest floor dangerously fast, he snaps those powerful wings out once more to slow their descent, his feet touching along the path, that smile so dancing on his lips as he glances down at Lani and her windblown hair. As he gently sets her down, his arm holding her up as she steadies herself, he doesn't miss the way she glares at him, though he can see that twinkle of playfulness dancing in her blue eyes. Andras merely shrugs at her innocently as both of her hands plant themselves on his chest and shove him. Of course, the faerie man hardly moves, his body akin to someone trying to shove a boulder. Dark laughter rolls from his tongue again, "It was only a little free falling," he says innocently, even going as far as jutting out his lower lip in a pouting fashion.
"I think I need to condition you to love it," he grins at her, taking a step towards her and snaking a hand through hers as he leads her up the path, rather enjoying the way her heart hammers in her chest from the adrenaline. He can't help but keep that grin from his face as he leads her inside the cabin, the warm air kissing their skin as he suddenly sweeps a hand out, stating that this belonged to her. There was a pause, as if Lani hadn't registered his words, Andras's hazel eyes turning on her just as she begins to speak. Releasing her hand, he remains standing by the doorway as she steps farther into the candle, her eyes bright as she takes in her surroundings. Andras had carefully picked out every item within the confines of the cabin and had even gone as far as to string simple decorations throughout simply because he thought Lani would like it. It seemed like he had been correct. "I'm delighted," he murmurs just as he takes the present out of his pocket and strolls towards her, handing it to the woman. He's surprised when she settles herself on the edge of the bed, placing that festive box in her lap and going as far as to pat the seat next to her.
Andras obliges her as he closes the distance quickly and settles next to the woman, taking a moment to adjust his wings so they might not sit on them. It takes him longer than he might have wanted, but finally Andras simply fans his wings out slightly to quite nearly wrap themselves partially around the couple, the firelight shining through that thin membrane. Her next words has the man's ears perking up as she hands him that gift, Andras eagerly unwrapping it to reveal a handmade scarf. Eyes softening, he turns towards Lani, those dark hazel eyes taking her in as he carefully removes the scarf and places it around the back of his neck, enjoying the softness on his skin. "It's wonderful, Lani; perfect," he murmurs, leaning forward and placing a kiss on her forehead, his lips lingering a touch longer than necessary before pulling back. Strong calloused hands reach up to tuck her windswept curls behind her ear, "And I'm very pleased you like the cabin," Andras smiles at her, "If you wish, I can move all of your belongings here, clothing included," Andras offers, his fingers still trailing along her jawline, absentmindedly playing with a loose curl that refused to stay behind her ear.
