Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The feel of the felines soft fur under her fingers had a decidedly calming effect on the woman, part of the reason she was glad the cat had managed to follow her all this time. She always hesitated to call him a pet, their cohabitation more mutual acceptance than anything resembling the typical human/pet relationship. Still he was a comfort, always seeming to know when she needed the reassurance of his presence and so she wasn't too surprised when he managed to appear on the counter top. It was enough to allow her to slip back into the familiar comfort of sarcasm regarding her decorating with cardboard boxes. His temporary belief in her statement was enough to cause a brief, soft laugh to fall from her pink lips, her hand raising to brush some stray strands of hair behind her ear in an almost compulsory action. Still she couldn't get over how different he was from most vampires she knew of and even less like the one she knew the most.
His rather surprising good nature was a welcome relief, it helped soothe the tension that was constant in her body. It felt nice, natural, and easy which was rare these days for her especially when it came to men. Perhaps it was the lack of pressure or overall surprise of their meeting, but she couldn't deny it was enjoyable however random. His self-deprecating and genial nature made it simpler.
As he continued she watched his hand wave nonchalantly at her promise to not try and stomp around too much, his response one she probably should have expected regarding his rather understandably nocturnal habits. Still, she wasn't sure it would quite solve the problem, even though she had the ability to move about silently if she wished it made good conversation.
His response to her more rhetorical comment about not knowing why his own kind might not like him as much had her brows drawing together, his response nonchalant and flowing quickly into the topic of his roommate but it stuck with her none the less. Had he said hurting his own kind? She was a little distracted by that but not enough to miss the comment about his girlfriend apparently being a were as well, which mean he hadn't missed what she was as well.
She followed his gaze as it traveled back to the boxes stuffed with her sparse possessions wrapped in the newspapers she had found in a recycling bin to protect them. They might not be much, but they were important enough to her. As he reached forward and pulled the top piece of a paper out her dark brows raised in curiosity, not sure what could have grabbed his attention on it so quickly, she hadn't even bothered to read them as she used them for wrapping. At his comment she stepped forward a few paces to get a glance at the cover of the newspaper. The name Dorian foreign to her, but if he was important then it seemed to be a name she should get to know. As her gaze moved from the title of the article to the large picture plastered below it she inhaled a little sharply, moving to take the paper out of his hands so she could see it clearly. Her hazel eyes scanned the print below the caption eagerly until she found the name that matched the face that smile back at her from the picture next to the man named Dorian.
It was a surprising turn of events, especially considering how recently she had seen the man and he had failed to mention any of this. Though it did something to explain a few questions she had been left with after their meeting while raising so many more.
