Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The hardest thing to do was to get the twins down for a nap on a nice day. Even at 4 years old they still got 1 nap a day which in all honesty was the only time Nadya could get things done. This was especially true on the weekends when there was no preschool during the day to free up her time for her dance studio. Izzy hung on the back of the couch looking out of the living room window to the backyard where Scarlett lounged in the sun. That's where she wanted to be, outside playing in the backyard. "Izzy, come on, you can play outside after your nap." Nadya gently nudged her daughter's arm. If she relented and didn't give the pair a nap they would emotional wrecks by dinner time. That was a meltdown Nadya wasn't willing to deal with.
Izzy whined as she slowly slid down to the sprawl onto the seat of the couch. "No naaap." The young girl pouted up at her mother. Nadya raised a brow but remained silent, simply extending her free hand as the other was occupied holding Micah's who didn't seem to care about the nap ordeal quite so much. His ability to go with the flow was much appreciated by Nadya as it made Izzy's behavior much easier to handle. The young mother took her huffing and puffing daughter's hand and led the pair upstairs to their room.
It wasn't until she had finally gotten them to sleep some time later that Nadya felt a stirring of the pack bond. It wasn't often that she felt anything from it. Nadya stood from where she was perched on her son's bed, tucking the covers more securely over him before turning to leave the room. It was then that she felt the heat of that pack bond, the kind which only meant someone was hurt. She knew Malia was in the house, sleeping in from one of her late night social wanderings. Immediately Nadya went to the bedroom window to see Scarlett was gone from the backyard and the back gate was wide open. There were rolling clouds in the horizon that hadn't been there before. That wasn't normal mother nature. Shit. In a flurry of motion she rushed from the twin's room, banging briefly on Malia's to wake her and watch the twins before bolting downstairs. There was no way she wasn't going to respond to Scarlett. Frost had stepped out and with no idea where he was in relation to their packmate...she was going to find the wolf. She couldn't have gone far. The very memory of her own run-in with hunters when she had the twins and her foot caught in a bear trap was enough to spur the woman forwards.
The shift overcame the woman the moment the fresh air hit her lungs. Nadya used that animal connection to reach for that pack bond once more, using it as a hot and cold meter as she ran along the path at top speeds in search of Scarlett. Nadya came upon the scene as Scarlett was lunging at the Hunter, her jaws clamping down on his arm as her whole body sparked with energy. The Hunter gave an awful cry and the smell of burning flesh filled the air before he collapsed onto the ground.
The panther stepped forward in confusion. Her Scarlett had done all this? Her Scarlett who couldn't even hurt a fly? Nadya's gaze swept over the two fallen Hunters and the skinned Were as she pressed forward, "Scarlett?" Her footsteps were halted suddenly in surprise as the wolf turned in full fury, snapping in her direction with scorching eyes she had never seen before. The panther's ears pinned back as her tail whipped in clear apprehension of what was going on. This wasn't her Scarlett. Nadya counter-balanced Scarlett's step towards her by stepping back, unsure of what was going on...until the energy which had overtaken the wolf seemed to dissipate leaving a drained Were in its wake. Scarlett's familiar voice found her mind as she collapsed and all at once Nadya's hesitation was overtaken by protectiveness and leapt forward to lean heavily against the wolf to guide her form more gently to the earth.
There was no doubt that Frost had responded to Scarlett's pain and she could only hope would find them soon. Nadya took care to be gentle as she nosed through Scarlett's thick fur, finding the source of all the blood. The smell of silver told her that the bullet was still lodged in there. Neither her nor Frost's healing ability would do any good with the metal still in there. Out of all the things Nadya had learned in the past few months, how to remove a bullet or other article wasn't one of them. Given Malia's track record and now Scarlett...perhaps it was something she should add to her to-do list. "We'll have to get you to the hospital to have the bullet taken out. When Frost gets here you might have to shift. It'll hurt like hell but it'll be easier for you to stay on his back. Just focus on my voice, ok?" Keeping Scarlett conscious as long as possible would be the first task. ...Damn it Frost, run faster.
