Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He couldn't stop staring at her every time he got a chance on the car ride over to Troy and Amelia's place. Her firey red hair was curled and laid just right on her shoulders, glistening in the streetlights that came through the windshield. Her blue eyes stood out even more with the blue of her dress the fit her growing body perfectly. Her skin looked like it was glowing and he couldn't held the urge he felt to run his fingers over her arm, just to be able to touch her. He knew the pregnancy was tough on her, but she was handling it like a champ. She had her emotional breakdowns and he tried to help her through them the best he could, focusing on keeping her calm and sometimes even distracting her or trying to make her laugh. She tried to make it through without his help most of the time though and he hated that. She was independent, not used to having someone there to catch her when she fell and it only broke his heart. He promised her and himself that he would make sure that never happened again. She would never feel alone, not while he was alive. This child wouldn't know what to do with itself with all the love it would be surrounded by, boy or girl. He didn't care as long as it was healthy. Even as he drove the car further into the housing district where Troy said they lived, he reached over to grab Sam's hand and give it a gentle squeeze. His gaze searched for hers, wanting to reassure her the best he could with a small smirk. He knew she was nervous. Even without powers to read emotions, he could tell by the tightness of her shoulders and the quiet car ride over that she was filled to the brim with thoughts and what-if's about how the night would go. He didn't want her to feel pressured and he wanted her to be comfortable, but he also didn't want her to miss out on friendship or having that support system that Amelia and Troy could offer. When they pulled up to the house, Sam turned to him, letting him know she didn't do good around crowds thanks to her powers. Kit nodded and gave her hand another squeeze, even bringing her hand to his mouth, letting his lips brush across her knuckles. "It'll be alright. You'll see. It's just going to be Troy and Amelia. They've got Tenley with a sitter." He thought that was nice of them to introduce Sam to Amelia first before adding in a vampire child as well. Kit had no doubt that Sam and he would be safe around them, but he wanted Sam to grow that trust as well. She told him she was trying. "I know. You're doing great, sweetheart." She asked if he was ready to go in and he searched her gaze once more before answering, wanting to give her a moment to collect herself and her nerves and waiting for that silent cue that she was ready before he smiled. "Yeah, I think we're ready." He finally said after he saw what he was looking for in those pretty blue eyes. He gave her knuckles another kiss before he got out and walked around to open her door, holding out his hand to help her out of the car. Glancing around at the manor, he whistled a little. "Guess Troy is doing alright for himself now. I still remember all the bad motels we used to stay in while out hunting. This is the White House compared to that." Hoping to see at least a little amusement dancing in those blue eyes, he made his way up to the door with her and rang the doorbell. It would be a lie to say he wasn't a little nervous too, but it was only cause he didn't know how to picture his brother with a woman he loved. Troy had always been a cinder block when it came to emotions, unlike Kit. He would flirt and sleep with pretty much anything that moved but he wasn't the committment type. And he was always known for his deep seated hatred for vampires that stemmed from their mother's death. Knowing that his brother was soon to be married and a father.....it was going to take some getting-used-to. When the door opened, a beautiful caramel skinned woman stood there with smokey eyes and a red dress that Kit was sure Troy would be drooling over. If there was ever a type Kit could picture his brother with, she was definitely it. Her brown eyes gleamed with intelligence and the kind of independence Kit was learning very well from the beautiful woman standing beside himself. She greeted them and Kit quickly offered up a smile as he gave Sam's hand another gentle caress in case she was having some jitters and walked into the foyer when Amelia stepped aside. She spoke of going to the drawing room and offered some non-alcoholic drinks to Sam, which Kit was gracious for. Not that he would expect Sam to endanger her pregnancy in any way, but he hadn't expected Amelia to go out of her way to provide for them. Guess he should have known better. As Amelia stepped around the bar to mix drinks, he chuckled a little. "Um, I'll just take a rum and coke. It's nice to finally meet you, Amelia. I've heard a lot about you. I still can't quite believe it myself, my brother actually settling down. You must have done quite a number on him." While his voice was teasing, his eyes shined with genuine happiness for her and his brother and gratitude as well. There was a time he never thought his brother would open himself up to someone enough to fall in love or have a family. Troy used to always joke that people that them weren't built for that stuff so he ran from it at every turn. He wished he could voice just how thankful he was to Amelia for showing Troy that meaning of love and family. |
