Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

She should have prepared for this meeting, not invited him over on a whim. She hardly knew what to say and as she stands there in the middle of the kitchen, she can feel his heavy stare on her. He was intimidating. Though, Oliver had been far more... closed off when discussing things with her, Roman seemed friendly enough and Miya wondered if she should be worried because he was so friendly. There were a million thoughts racing through her head and none of them were helping the situation at hand. Releasing a sigh, she apologizes for being awkward, Roman only encouraging her which only darkens the flush on her cheeks and neck. How humiliating. She gives a small nod as she gathers her own coffee mug and makes her way to the seat across from the golden eyed man, sliding into the seat.

Miya sips delicately on the hot coffee, relieved to have caffeine for this conversation. "You're welcome," she murmurs quietly. She explains quickly that she works at the hospital, feeling a tad squirmy under his gaze, but she keeps herself from fidgeting. Barely. "Sometimes, the last two years was exhausting but I finally moved departments and I'm not a frontline covid worker anymore," she explains, "I'm a surgeon and a researcher, lately I've been researching the use of vampire blood in the hospitals, if it's a viable option for treatment for all sorts of diseases. There's a lot of hoops to jump through and only half of the board approves, we want it to be a unanimous agreement," she sighs heavily, her gaze dropping to her coffee in her hands, only for her to flush with embarrassment after a moment, "Oh my god, I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking about myself so much," she winces and as she attempts to change the subject, her pink cheeks only further redden as his name falls of her lips.

Why was she so awkward? It wasn't like she had an issue using first names it just felt so much more intimate in a small space... alone with someone. Miya is drawn out of her embarrassment by Roman's words. Africa. "That is... a long way from him," she says, eyes wide, "I've never been to Africa, actually, I've never lived anywhere besides this city. Is it true you see lions everywhere you go? Oh and elephants too?" She rapid fires questions, her curiosity getting the better of her, coffee forgotten for the moment. The last tidbit of information flares in her mind again, "5 siblings? That's a lot, I was an only child, that must be nice to have so many brothers and sisters," she muses quietly before their subject changes to his job. It was... surprising, no, maybe unsurprising at his answer. If Miya had to pinpoint what he did for a living, she wouldn't have been able to guess but the odd jobs, that seemed fitting in a way. The small woman did not particularly care if he had a constant income, she didn't need to rent out the spare bedroom, not anymore, and had already decided she would be renting it out, utilities included, for basically a steal. Despite her enjoyment on living alone, she wouldn't have made it as far as she did in life without help and she wanted to offer that help back.

She was a firm believer in karma.

"I don't think you will have an issue finding a job in the city, especially in your line of work," she offers after a moment, a small, quiet smile on her lips. "If anything, I wouldn't mind hiring you to fix some of the stuff in the apartment," she admits, "Like that lightbulb in the living room, I'm too short to reach even with a ladder," she sighs, gesturing at the light fixture hanging from the ceiling. "I wouldn't be surprised if the apartment complex hired you too if you asked, it's under new ownership now so they have a lot of cleaning up to do," she shudders, her mind wondering back to the handrail leading up to her apartment that was barely hanging on for dear life. She was certain she would fall over the edge one of these days. Pushing it away, "Do you have any questions for me? Or about the apartment?" She asks after a moment, fingering her coffee mug before taking another sip.
