The very concept of marriage was already something that shook up the faerie girl. Even when she was human, she'd never quite been one that thought fondly for her future wedding. Other girls that she knew had dreamed over those wedding magazines in stores, or picked out songs or dances or the dress that they'd wear. But Sam had never felt those fond feelings for the idea of it. But, even without that, she'd always at least knew that when she did marry, it would be because she fell in love. The idea that Dorian would have been expected to marry for duty was enough to make her frown. She stepped forward, almost as though she was about to hug him, before she listened to the comments regarding his male lover. Samantha couldn't help but step back, a small giggle escaping from her lips as she crossed her arms over her chest. The very idea of being burnt alive for it was enough to make the girl laugh, though she tried desperately to hide that side of her amusement.
"No, Americans do tend to use words to take down someone rather than actual fire," She said easily. The woman stepped forward, moving to straighten the collar of the shirt that he was wearing. It was such a small, affectionate gesture. "There are... certainly people who don't think that that is morally right. But for the most part, there will be no one comment on your goings-on with your companion." She shook her head. "No, things have certainly changed in the aspects of love and marriage. Companionship is entirely out of love and... lust? Never out of duty."
Still, she wasn't quite happy to be pulled into dancing along with him. She was positive in the event she vocalized. She was sure that she would step on his feet or that she would harm him in some way. That he seemed so assured she wouldn't spoke highly of his faith for her. That she was barefoot and not in heels was at least a saving grace for both of them. "If you're sure," She commented lightly, allowing him to guide her around. She found herself humming very quietly under her breath. Still, she was curious as to how she might be able to flirt while dancing, a thought she easily vocalized.
The girl couldn't help but hitch the breath in her throat as he mentioned the desire to court her. Her mind immediately flitted towards Aiden and what it might be like to dance against him. The woman let out a tiny, nervous whimper as he quickened their pace, her eyes flitting to their feet in an attempt to keep herself balanced. But then they slowed and he pulled her in even closer to his chest as she moved against him.
She opened her mouth to speak regarding his instructions, though she closed it almost immediately after. She felt as though her mouth was too dry to speak, so instead she merely lifted her gaze up to his in an attempt to make eye contact. It was difficult to not look at her feet and obsess over every movement. But she trusted him entirely to guide her. She couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her lips, and she was happy that he didn't have the ability to catch the way her heart quickened as she continued to consider what it would be like to dance with Aiden like this.
She knew, of course, that he would never dance like this with her. Aiden was definitely, without a doubt, not the type to ballroom dance. Still, the idea of it was enough to send her heart thudding against her chest. She couldn't help the near yelp that escaped her lips at his abrupt spinning of her, though she closed her eyes and allowed him to guide her through it. She was relieved when he guided her so effortlessly through it, her eyes only opening when she felt herself drawn against his chest once more.
Her cheeks seemed to blame with redness as he kissed her cheek. It was such a small gesture, one that wasn't uncommon between friends. And yet for him, for his age, it was something so sweet. She allowed him to drop her hand, smiling softly as she glanced around the room. It was true that they'd been around the room and she'd hardly noticed. And yet still her heart raced at the idea of trying it again.
"What if I don't have a partner as talented at leading as you are, Dori? Then what am I supposed to do?"
