The day off had been a nice change of pace for the Were. To say it was rare that Arya took days off from the aquarium was an understatement; today was her first day off since she began working at the Sacrosanct city aquarium three years ago, and this did not include the years she interned at the facility while in college. The work was demanding and the pay abysmal, but the pay off at the end of each and every day made it worth it for her to continue working there. Getting to work full time with incredible animals who she understood better than any other mammalogist working there, educating the public, and seeing the sparkle of excitement and love in the eyes of the children who visited each day made every day worth it. However her coworkers had become increasingly concerned with the level of exhaustion she had been reaching in recent weeks, and after much persuasion she decided to take up there suggestion and take a day off before she got sick and would inevitably be forced to take more time off. By the end of the day her body felt refreshed, and, despite how much she loved the aquarium, she had to agree that it was nice to take some time off.
Despite her short stature she made it back to the parking lot relatively quickly. She slipped her flip flops back on as she reached the border between sand and pavement then continued her walk along the wide walk to her car. Many beach goers had begun to return to their cars and she was careful to avoid everyone as they weaved in and out of cars with armfuls of beach necessities. She was just about to turn in to slip between two cars when her body made contact with something small in stature. Despite being taken aback in surprise by the sudden collision, her amber gaze quickly scanning down to the young girl who looked back equally as dazed by obstacle in her path. Instinct kicked in and Arya gently reached out with her mind without thinking, sending calming emotions to the young girl in case she had given her a fright or injured her in any way; the last thing she wanted to do was scare a child. She bent down to be more level with the girl and to seem much less intimidating than before, though she was not tall herself.
She rose when the mother rounded the car quickly, offering her a friendly reassuring smile to the stressed out woman who placed another child, a boy of the same age, down to gather her daughter. "Izzy, what do you say when you bump into someone?" she reminded the young girl who continued to blink up at Arya before offering an apology.
