East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

His ability to read her should have been off putting, as someone who new veritably nothing about her and yet he could somehow see through the mask she wore. And yet his reluctance to bring it to the surface played into everything that was their relationship. Their interactions soft and subtle in such a way that he managed to make her feels like the walls she had built might not be so entirely necessary. She knew they were, the recent past had taught her that caution was extremely necessary even just so far as self-preservation, but for him... for a little while she might be convinced to step outside of them for a night. Through all their exchanges tonight he had managed to put her back into that relaxed state where she found herself lost in those deep, navy eyes that always managed to be so captivating. At times it felt like a trap, but perhaps one that she wouldn't mind being caught up in for a little while if only to escape.

It's why she is so willing to let his cool hand so encompass her own, her long fingers intertwining with his as he moved to lead her down the dark streets that he knew how to navigate so well. Why she managed to push down the thoughts of taking off down the sidewalks and running back to the relative safety of her car that was parked a few blocks over. Instead she focused on him, the way the warm light played off his skin as they passed various shops and under street lights until they reached the entrance of the club Sebastian has selected for them. She paid no attention to the name or who was around them as they walked inside and he guided her gently to the bar. No doubt it was a place like many, that were it midday and the overhead lights on things would look distinctly different and the magic would be gone. Yet underneath the dim lights and thrum of music that was just loud enough it gave them the guise of being able to be anything or anyone other than who they were, and that was something she clung to like a drowning person to a life raft.

The essence of their relationship was founded on the very principle that this club was made to exaggerate and she was more than willing to allow herself to be lost in it for the night. So she readily took his offer of a drink as they reached the bar, giving him her pick of poison for the night and not terribly surprised to hear his own. She only nodded and smiled in returned, watching as he so effortlessly flagged down the bartended and placed their order, the drinks arriving only moments later and as he motioned to the plush booth tucked into one of the many dark corners the club had to offer she glanced up at him once more. His words pulled her towards it as much as the welcoming deep velvet plush and low lighting, long lashes partially covering her deep eyes as she looked up into his. The soft promise of those words tingled at the base of her spine however untrue; they may have just been more words laden with innuendo that were an empty promise but for at least tonight she could pretend they weren't.

With the gentle pull of his hand she followed him to it, sliding around to the back as gracefully as was possible she watched him do the same. When he was situated she decided if she was going to hell, one way or another, she was going to enjoy it all the way down. She adjusted herself to be more comfortably, turning away from him so that her legs would drape over his, leaning back against the soft plush of the booth cushion. Clutching the caramel liquid of her drink she raised it to her lips finally, able to look at him from over the rim of the glass as she let the warm liquid burn down her throat. She took a longer sip than she might have typically, but she needed the sweet detachment it would bring. Coming up she lowered the glass halfway, closing her eyes against the sharp burn of the liquid until it faded enough and she looked back at him. "Perhaps you should order a double next time."

No doubt she would need a refill sooner rather than later, but for now she looked at him expectantly. One hand raised to sweep her long tangle of hair over one shoulder, exposing one side of her pale skin yet thick enough around her neck that it still hid the long scar that made her take a second sip of her drink. "I believe you promised to make me, ah what was it, forget my woes?" She looked at him with deep, veiled eyes, ready to make real the multitude of promises they had made to one another over time, ready to see if he could put his money where his mouth was... so to speak.
