East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I've forgotten how it felt before...

Fate was not something that I had ever taken stock in. Witches could manufacturer their own fate. Want an extended life? It was possible, at the cost of ones soul at times, though not every witch coven knew the same secrets as others. In a world so large it was no wonder that even in magic, they were all still learning. One could create spells, change spells, completely obliterate them if they wanted. How could fate be intertwined with something so unsettled? It was not a linear fashion and thus, I could conceive of it. There were choices and consequences and then, simply, coincidences. Yet I had not seen hundreds of years fly by as Erik had, so whatever thinking he had could not be equated to mine.

Erik seemed amused by my thoughtfulness as I pad towards him. He was a mystery to me, even if I was beginning to unfold it question by question, and boy did I have a lot of those. He smiles and drinks from his cup, my emerald eyes darting down to it even as I realize it must house warm blood. Before he offers it to me, that is. I give him a grimace with a fake gagging simulation to add effect. "I prefer my blood in my body, but thanks," I jest playfully back with a grin so he would know I was joking and that I also was not judging him. Dude had to survive and that was what it took, so be it.

He smirks when I poke him in the chest and I grin back. Erik is genuine. At least, I think he is. It seems like it, but maybe I was bad at reading people and other supernaturals. He could be lying straight to my face and I had no idea but I took everything he had done for me thus far and accounted for it to make such an assumption. I soften my grin to a pleasant smile at his thoughtful remark and then move to the table, eager to dig in as Adele brings the food. It still felt weird to be waited on but I admit, I rather enjoyed the relaxing air to it.

Erik sits beside me before leaning towards me and I cock my head a bit to get better acoustics. Immediately I blush bright red at his words even as his eyes lift from my food to me and I shift in my seat, rather astonished by the way my stomach seemed to clench at the very words. Damn, we weren't even talking dirty and I felt as if just the look I gave back to him was sinful in the presence of Adele. I hold his gaze for a minute, contemplating whether I should take a bite of my food and keep eye contact, but instead I give him a wink, a grin, then break eye contact and dig in. "It is, by the way," I add after my first two bites, sending him a sideways smirk.

I eat quick, mostly because I am ready to get out into the world to get this solved (and yeah, to be one on one with Erik), than due to hunger. The moment I am done I slide the chair back, grab my empty plate, and take it to the sink before Adele can grab it. I set it in there and turn, gripping the counter a bit as I steel myself. "Ready Erik?" I raise a brow, testing to make sure he was actually serious about coming with me. "You seriously aren't going to turn to dust the moment we leave the house right?"
the world fell at our feet
