if these wings could fly for the rest of our lives
There was positively, absolutely no denying that her polar bear was nothing short of grumpy. Even as a man he had this grumpy grump look about him. There was an intensity to the way he eyed her and yet, Abigail was somehow, totally okay with this. After all, this was the first time they had seen each other quite like this. He was strikingly handsome, enough to bring a pink hue to the young woman's cheeks and yet, it was hardly him that seemed to concern her. Rather, it was the secretary at her side that made the demure girl rather...tense. Thankfully, the secretary was hardly allowed to stay long. Though it was clear she had every intention to linger, that small nod from her Olly prompted the woman to turn on her heels and, albeit hesitantly, leave the room. It was only once the woman was gone that any apprehension the young panda had all but evaporated. Despite Olly's insistence that he hardly knew her, Abigail was all too quick to approach that large desk, almost eager to show him the delicious goods she had brought for him. He was absolutely going to LOVE this. She was CERTAIN of it!
She placed that bag with a soft thud on his desk, that aroma only further poignant with the sheer proximity of it. She picked up one of the containers from the depths of that paper bag, glancing up at him as Oliver insisted he certainly didn't remember her face - her eyes and hair though. Wasn't it like a dead give away? That smile hardly faltered as she shook her head. "You wouldn't but it's okay!" She informed him as she pulled that aluminum container out, toying with the bunching on the edges to lift the lid. She paused in her efforts, however, as Oliver admitted that he had someone who went food shopping for him. "Wait - you can DO that?! How do you get someone to go for you?! Can you get a food shopping buddy?! I just....I-don't-want-to-go-alone-cause-there-are-so-many-people." The last part of her sentence, and the admittance of her fear, came out in one giant rush of words as if the girl had hardly bothered to even breathe at that moment. Arlo had promised to take her to the store once but, well, they'd gotten a little busy since then and so Abigail had stuck to her little farmers' markets and hole in the wall food stores instead of venturing into that GREAT SUPER BIG ONE. It was just....a lot of people crammed into one tiny space and pandas were just as solitary as polar bears really.
It was only then that she pulled open the lid to reveal the succulent fish seasoned and grilled inside, sitting on a bed of buttered rice and super duper yummy looking veggies. Abigail was going to eat like....ALL of those roasted veggies. ALL OF THEM. Even Ollie seemed super interested in the food too. The poor guy must have been really really hungry. She felt kind of bad for him. Abigail prattled on, all the same, informing him that this was her attempt to apologize for utterly ruining their attempt to fish. Well, more like his attempt to properly fish and her floundering in an effort to pounce on those fishies - not like it would do them much good but...it had been kinda super duper fun. She watched as that understanding crossed his features, that grumpy face almost softening as he made that connection of who he was. "I didn't AMBUSH you! I just...kinda...sorta...fell...a little." She attempted to explain it away with an almost guilty glimpse of her features. "But see! I made it better right?!" Abigail insisted, thrusting that lunch towards him all whilst searching for...some look of approval. Okay, so maybe she was being a little silly but really! She did want to make it better!
It was, in fact, her very determination to make everything good that caused her gaze to shift towards those bright windows and the glorious world that existed just beyond those glass panes. She gestured lightly towards the windows, offering that, maybe they could indulge in wonderful sunlight? Her hazel eyes looked far too hopeful as she stared at Oliver, waiting for the man's response. She could hardly help that squeal of glee that left her lips, her hands clasping together in front of her as Oliver gave in to her whims. "Yayyy! Oh, this will be loads of fun!" She declared, picking up that aluminum box and shoving it back into that paper bag. The girl lifted that bag into her arms only for a soft sigh to leave her lips. Although this trip WAS about making it up to Olly, there was...something else that had weighed upon her mind, all the same, something she wanted to ask him about. It took her a moment to admit that she had a question for the man, one she wanted to discuss with him over lunch if he was willing. That huff on his lips, however, prompted a glimpse of confusion from Abigail herself. "Wait, what?! What did I do?!" The girl exclaimed with indignation at being called 'unbelievable'. Really! She was unbelievable?! SHE WAS TOTALLY BELIEVABLE!
She watched as Oliver rose from his desk, only to declare he was giving in to her whims with the announcement of a park nearby. Her head shook ever so slightly at his inquiry. "I haven't....really come to this part of town much." The girl admitted only to continue without missing a beat. "But it's okay because you can show me!" A park with a little pond and some park benches sounded absolutely lovely, as far as Abigail was concerned. Her head tilted to the side inquisitively as Oliver commented that he had questions of his own - well that was unexpected. "Really? You do?" She inquired, altogether baffled as to what HE might want to know from her! For a moment, she watched him as he made his way towards the door, that inquiry of whether or not she was coming caused her head to bob as the woman quickly fell into step behind him. She was hardly oblivious to the glimpse of surprise that crossed the secretary's features as Olly informed them he had no intention of coming back for the rest of the day - wait...really really?! He was going to spend the WHOLE day with her?! That grin spread across the young woman's features as she bounded towards the elevator beside him, altogether ecstatic that she had braved this scary building after all. This was going to be GREAT!
