East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She had heard those stories - those tales of the metropolis and the supernatural that lived in it, supernatural like herself. She'd heard of the weres that openly owned parts of the town, of vampire's that sectioned off neat little areas of their high class neighborhoods for themselves, of witches that practiced under the light of the moon with their infinitely magical spells, and of a fae King who too had made his home within that city limits. It was a buzzing metropolis filled with dreams and opportunities and promise - or at least, that was what Audette thought. Moving halfway across the world to a country she'd never seen was supposed to be glamorous. It was supposed to offer her the thrill of adventure, open her eyes to a lifetime of unanticipated experiences. Well, this was largely unanticipated, she had to admit that, even as her sneakers hit the pavement with a steady stride. It was a shame too, tryouts had gone so well! Truly, she thought she might actually have a chance at getting in! To the ballet! Finally! After all these years! Her grip tightened on that duffle bag hoisted over her shoulder, the young woman attempted to reposition it as she ran, unwilling to give up the contents of it even in spite of everything. After all, the one thing that Audette had not been told about the city - were the Dark Hunters.

She hadn't noticed him following her, at least, not at first. Those blocks from downtown to her shabby little flat on the west side of town had passed before her with a hint of awe in her chocolate eyes of the city that surrounded her. It was only once she'd gotten lost on her way home that she noticed the man several feet behind her, following the same nonsensical path as she tried to find something that looked familiar again. It had taken her another block before those senses began to tingle, telling her of what he was. She'd only met one of his kind once before. Just once and she'd never forgotten it. It was a natural instinct within her - to run. Maybe it wasn't the smartest decision she'd made in her whole life but, it had seemed....wise at the time. Sort of. He was, after all, already stalking her as it was. Audette totally hoped this wasn't one of those situations where you only ran if you were guilty and she'd implicated herself with her own anxiety! In fact, that very adrenaline filled her veins as she reached out, her hand grabbing the corner of a building to help facilitate that quick turn down onto a side street.

The young woman glanced behind her, almost disappointed to see that he'd made that same sharp turn on that far more deserted alleyway. Maybe she'd been foolish to think she could lose him so easily. Maybe, she needed to do with those American spy movies do and find a crowd to get lost in. At the very least, it seemed sort of feasible...maybe. Oh, what was she thinking?! It was in a movie and this was certainly far from any such fanciful experience. A dagger whizzed through the air just as she turned another corner, thudding into the brick wall behind her. Well, so much for maybe they were just going down the same pathway! She could hardly help that sound of surprise that left her lips. Who even made an alleyway that didn't go straight through! Another reckless turn was made into another back street, though she could hear the hunter's shoes on the pavement behind her. Usually, Audette was regarded as being particularly fit but...he...well, he was giving her a run for her money. Her shoes squeaked on the cement as another abrupt turn was made, those blonde locks bouncing in her wake as she glanced behind her. That corner, however, served to be her very salvation - an open door but mere feet in front of her! She ducked into that building, without the slightest idea of what was on the other side of the door only to close it firmly behind her. There we go, maybe he wouldn't notice that.

A soft breath left her lips before the youthful fae turned to regard the very kitchen she had walked into. Thankfully, most of the chefs seemed far too busy with their work to notice the young woman that certainly didn't belong. She moved with a dancer's grace through the room, making every effort to at least pretend she knew exactly where she was going. Thankfully, the room was hardly large and those doors out of the kitchen were easily found. The restaurant itself seemed busy for that time of night, letting the girl seem little more than a patron as she moved towards the front of the building. She paused just at the door, glancing both ways to ensure she didn't see him before she stepped out. That was a close one. Maybe those spy movies did work! A soft sound of satisfaction left the French girl's lips as she crossed the street, entirely willing to take those back streets with the hopes that she could get far away from him before he found her trail again. In that moment of her momentarily satisfaction, she failed to note the man that hung in the shadows of that alleyway she had intended to take, much less the way his nose twitched at that faint floral scent of her blood.
