East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Things were different upon the streets of Paris. They alleyways were far more quaint and substantially less terrifying. The people were more friendly and less inclined to eye her with ready weariness. The city and it's populace were such a staunch divergence from the world that Audette had known for so long that she had hardly given a second thought to venturing down those less taken streets. She hadn't realized the danger the pale fellow at the entry of the alleyway posed to her, nor the way he hunted her the moment she stepped into his domain. In fact, it wasn't until it was too late that Audette realized the error of her ways, his tongue sliding across her flesh with a wetness that made her cringe. He'd pulled her head to the side, revealing the pristine pale flesh of her neck as she strove to twist her way out of his grasp. The vampire, however, hardly seemed afflicted by her 'fight', her efforts all but failing to do little then force him to tighten his hold upon her, crushing her against him until, abruptly, he paused. He went still as a statue in one precarious moment, his attention drawn elsewhere and yet it was that singular moment that Audette needed, the girl quite abruptly twisted in his arms, her hands shoved at his chest, using all her strength to pry herself from his grasp, only to send her stumbling out of his arms.

She hardly bothered to glance towards the vampire as she pivoted upon her feet, fully intending to use that moment of distraction to her advantage. Audette hardly noticed the chains that had begun to wrap around her legs, at least, until her step forward sent her colliding into the ground. She could hardly help that small sound the left her lips as she fell upon the concrete but now was hardly the time to dwell in just how that fall had taken the very breath from her lungs. She glanced back at the pair of men, noting, for the first time, the very Hunter then had been trailing after her several blocks before. Great. Somehow, she had attracted two hunters! She was never going to take this route home ever again. At least, that was what she told herself has her fingers gripped at the chains that bound her in an otherwise futile effort. No matter her struggling, they hardly seemed keen to release their tight grip upon her. It was in a moment of desperation that caused her to crawl against the rough ground, staining those leggings in the process as she tried to move herself out of the way and in the most discreet location she could find, hoping they would merely forget about her.

She pressed herself against the side of the grimy dumpster, pulling her legs against her as she eyed the pair of men with a hint of uneasy upon her fair features. Audette could see those arrows that merely hovered within air, just as she too saw them sling through the air to pierce the flesh of the vampire. One just barely missed, colliding into the brick wall somewhere over her head in a fashion that made her dunk, as if to avoid it. What she didn't expect, however, was the way the vampire semed to ignore the wounds in his body and the man who so thwarted his efforts, the pale creature's entire attention turned back towards her with parted lips and sharpened fangs. She could see them, even in the oppressive darkness of the alleyway, those teeth that so sought to pierce her flesh and crush her neck to suck the very life force out of her. It was that very fear and adrenaline that caused her affinity to rise to the service, even though Audette struggled to push it back from where it had come. Her control, it seemed, was lacking when those emotions ran rampant within her.

That inner light of sorts began to radiate from her skin, a soft, gentle glow that embraced her frame and radiated with an almost heavenly hue. For the present moment, that hue remained as little more than a gentle warning, prepared to protect her if necessary, even if Audette hardly wanted it at all for all the attention it drew to her cowering frame. The very presence of that light seemed to prompt both men to pause, as if they were unsure of this new facet thrown into the mix. Such a hesitation, however, hardly lasted long before the vampire near bolted at her, prompting Audette to near flail as she pushed herself as far back into the dumper and brick wall as she could, prompting a precarious bag of trash above her to tumble down in front of her. It was that surprise that suddenly invoked a cry from the woman's lips and yet, as the vampire approached, there was little she could do, even as she tugged with increasing desperation at her bound legs.

She hardly saw that blade meld into existence, much less the Dark Hunter that lunged forward behind the frenzied vampire. In fact, it wasn't until the vampire suddenly froze that she glanced up, that shadow knife near absorbing ever hint of her light, a black void in the world of brightness her body struggled to create. She was hardly prepared for the blood that sprayed from the vampire's neck as the sword cut through it like butter. Her eyes widened as the creature fell to the side, sending droplets of it's blood on her once pristine skin. Audette was stunned into silence, having never witnessed such a brutal death first hand. For a moment, she was frozen before her hands shakily rose, reaching up to wipe the blood from her face, resulting in little more than a smear of red on her once white cheek. Her actions were entirely sluggish, the girl equally as unprepared for the man that stepped around that now fallen, shriveling corpse. She pressed herself further back into the brick wall, that light struggling with it's brightness to battle the very darkness that seemed to surround him. His face moved ever closer towards her, as if carefully examining her with some blatant mistrust. He was careful not to touch her, however, that whispered inquiry caused the young woman to swallow, her chest filled with the fluttering of butterflies.

"I...I'm a...a fae." She stuttered out, that French lit to her soprano voice was all the more notable in that moment of fear. She watched as his gaze shifted away from her, only to dart back with some clear indecisiveness. That inquiry he finally demanded of her was more akin to a vicious snarl and yet, for a moment, Audette's large chocolate eyes merely stared up at him in confusion. "Excusez-moi?" Audette inquired, reverting to her native tongue. "I....I was just trying to go home but...I...I got lost and..." Her voice trailed off as her gaze turned towards her blood stained hands, the color such a stark contrast to the pale white of her softly glowing skin. She hardly realized that hitched breath that left her lips before her eyes were glassy with wetness. "...and then this started and I can't make it stop and..." Before she knew it those tears rolled down her cheeks, sparkling with a gentle inner light. "...I'm sorry." She repeated that apology on her lips over and over, as she stared at her hands, the cold hard reality of not only what had happened but what was surely about to occur had hit Audette hard, prompting in those rare sobs, the very kind that caused that light to push against those shadows, as if merely bathing her in that hue might somehow keep her safe.
