East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm about to make my own way, heaven help me keep my faith

She still had not fully come to terms with what she was. The young witch did not even know if she wanted to be a witch, not that she had any choice in the matter. What she needed though was something to distract herself. With school on break for the summer and her class load not as heavy in the fall as it has been, Kathryn's free time has been far tooâ€"free. She had spoken to her grandparents only a few nights ago, though she has yet to tell them about what information she has found out and why they felt it a need to keep it from her. But as she mentioned her boredom, her grandad had brightened with an idea. Even now she can picture his eyes sparkling in the way they do whenever he thought he may have a brilliant plan. He suggested trying to get an internship within Sacrosanct. "It will be a wonderful experience for you, Kat. I learned so much as an intern...when I wasn't off fetching coffee for the higher ups," he said with a laugh and Kathryn's scrunched her face up slightly. Still, if she wanted to take over the family business one day, and bring in that younger outlook her grandad kept telling her about, she needed to garnish more experience, and whether it was fetching coffee or running errands, she knew that she could at least gain some new insight into the world of business, by getting that internship. Who knows, she may learn some valuable information and being able to bring it up to her grandad, who, on the one side had all the faith a grandfather could have for his granddaughter, was also still a businessman, having built his company from the ground up and was wary to let it change hands, even if it was his granddaughter.

Kathryn looks down at her watch, the office building wasn't far from here so she would be able to walk to it. Despite how long Kat had already been here, her grandparents had still not been able to drive her jeep up for her so she has been resigned to walking and taking her baby blue bike every where. One last look at her watch and Kathryn decides it is time to start getting ready for her interview. Having washed her face and brushed her teeth the sable haired witch picks out an outfit that would seem appropriate for an interview. While she has countless business clothes from her time in undergrad, she has not gone on so many interviews that were not practice, or marketing arrangements from her grandad's company. As she scans the outfits within her closest, she can feel the nerves start to set in and the zephyrs begin to stir around her, but rather than blustery and out of control, they are warm as they caress her tanned skin, she is comforted by it and it wraps themselves around her almost protectively, tugging lightly at her sable hair. Aqua eyes close for a moment as she enjoys the feeling before they open once more with a renewed sense of focus.

From her closet, the young witch pulls out a light grey and white vertically stripe flowy collared shirt. She grabs a maroon blazer, pairing the outfit with a pair of skinny, black work pants and, to top it off, black heels. Nothing spoke more like a business woman that the sound of high heels clinking against the floor. Sable hair is put into loose curls as she tops off her look with eyeliner and mascara. Never having been a makeup girl, she keeps it simple, yet professional. First impressions, she knew of their importance.

As she takes a deep breath and heads out the door, Kathryn realizes that, while she could not explain it, she felt different, that she was finally growing from that ugly duckling that was able to shed its ugly gray feathers to reveal the beautiful, graceful creature beneath. The part that was damaged and broken, the part that Kat had simply left aside, not bothering to fix it, tucked away in the area of her heart riddled with scars lays dormant in her chest, benign, for now. Kathryn has nearly forgotten about it. Glacier blue eyes crinkle with a smile as they rise up to see she has finally arrived to her destination.

Here goes nothing.

She leaves the summer sun behind as she enters through the doors of the building. Her nearly earth toned hair is blown backwards by a rush of air before it settles once more along her back and she approaches the front desk. She stands at the desk for only a brief moment before the receptionist looks up at her. "Can I help you?" Kathryn's initial response is to smile politely before stating her business. "I am here for my appointment with Mr. Burton," the sable haired girl says, her voice quiet due to the environment, but still confident. Her nerves are hidden within the recesses of her mind, putting her best foot forward for this business opportunity. "Just one moment, you may have a seat until he is ready," the receptionist says with a smile as Kathryn then turns away from the desk and finds a seat among the chairs, taking a moment to breath and collect her thoughts as she slides her bag off her shoulder and onto the seat next to her. Silver blue eyes look down at her hands as she folds them in her lap, trying to focus on possible questions she may be asked and answers she would have. So lost in her own thoughts that the witch is caught by surprise as the receptionist lets her know that Mr. Burton will see her now. "Thank you," Kathryn says with a small wee as she follows her directions to Mr. Burton's office.

Slowly, the young witch creeps to the door that lays half way open, leading to an office. Without much through, she tucks her nearly ebony hair behind her ear, only to have it fall forward a moment later as she closes the remaining distance between herself and the office. For just a moment all her nerves bunch up with one another, before Kathryn feels something akin to release, and suddenly the with grows poised and confident as she steps up to the door. "Excuse me, Mr. Burton, the receptionist said you were ready for me." And while she doesn't grin like some plucky school girl, there is a certain way where the side of her mouth seems to twitch just the slightest bit upward, as if looking for any opportunity to smile.
