The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

iliana amaranth
She's habitually paradoxical, a parallel perpendicular;
How fortunate for him, to know that that felt like. Iliana had a multitude of questions that multiplied plentifully with each passing moment within her mind, all fluttering like a large number of butterflies wings flapping away. So intricate each one was, different from the rest she could hardly linger one one long enough. It was then that the pale haired fae woman explained the world of kiss attacks, an entirely made up word that had a clear definition to her. She easily announced it so that Sebastian could be in the know. Perhaps one day he might see fit to use such a word! The thought alone seemed to cause the silvery fae to smile a true brilliant smile that always met her metallic eyes. She even went on to show the man! Sort of. He surely wanted to know! The sweet fae, grasped at his arm with a suddenness, like a kitten hunting a butterfly for the first time. She drew so terribly close to him. She could see every intricacy of those striking blue eyes that watched her every move. She thought their noses might touch! Which was far from the lips that Sebastian had prepared for. She was oblivious to those subtle cues of his lips parting and the palpable shift. She could have kissed him! She could have shown him what a true kiss attack was meant to be! However she did not. Was it from nerves or pure obliviousness, she hardly knew. Instead she exclaimed.... That singular word Surprise! Equally effect... if you asked the innocent silvery fae.
She smiled at him brightly, as dazzling as the full moon at its largest, most vibrant state. It only grew when he admitted he hardly expected it, a sense of pride in that realization. "Exactly my point!" She nodded and replied happily. His own smile certainly made her heart flutter just a little as she was so grateful for this very man. How quickly she offered him back his space, leaning back into the plush seat behind her and yet never far enough away. In fact, she was close enough for their legs to touch.
The pair spoke about everything and anything that popped into her mind. It was like she could tell him anything and everything. He graciously listened to every last word, even commented on all she had to say. He really was a prince amongst boys! A dark and charming one who fit the bill in every facet. It was easy to move on from those unsavory topics of the red haired vampire just beyond their booth, maintained at a distance by a mere bounder and a barricade that was more for trendiness than any kind of true protection. What she had not expected was that very offer to show her what a good kiss might feel like. She could not dream of hiding that look of blatant surprise. No one had ever offered her a kiss before. They either took it... or it just sort of happened. How many people in the city of Sacrosanct wanted to kiss her?? She hadn't the time to wonder about this or consider herself desirable in any manner. Her cheeks heated, that brilliant pink hue painting them all too thoroughly!
How she trusted Sebastain, she just met him. But she knew she could trust him. She nervously fumbled with this offer all while Sebastian remained as cool... as a cucumber. Did anything threaten his composure? He must have kissed a lot of people. How many? Did it matter? The enamoured fae woman considered as her heart beat fluttered nervously again, so much that she could feel every last one. She just about debated an answer when suddenly the mood so dangerously shifted. The crimson haired vampire male had so boldly approached. It hardly mattered that Iliana was with another. She thought she was so well hidden.... She had forgotten his existence entirely. She wondered what would happen if he had caught Sebastian kissing her! Oh her cheeks flared a rich pink once more.
Instinctively, the fae clung to his arm, as though the act alone would save her. She clung to the only version of safety she knew. How muscular he was, she might have noticed it even though his arm was fully clothed. How easily she could have climbed into his lap for safety like a cat that scurried up a tree. Sebastian was her tree of safety. Her heartbeat thudded relentlessly.... not out of feeling shy but.... For fear. Fear for her... fear for Sebastian. The other vampire was furious, you could see it in his scrunched up face. He looked like a menacing creature that had no place in a pretty place like this. He was not someone she wished to know she thought distantly. Oh, she didn't want to leave Sebastian.. Not at all. She watched the two males stare at one another. Maybe... they were going to kiss attack each other? No... that was not what was happening. She wanted to root him on but she wisely kept her pink lips sealed shut. She never once let go of him, if anything that petrified grip tightened. Perhaps that stare alone would ward off the snarling vampire. Sebastian was.... fearless.
The other vampire.... Blatantly lied so easily that she might have even believed him if she did not know any better. The two men looked like two wolves ready to battle.. All they needed to do was bare their teeth at one another and growl. Maybe she should growl? The redhead said such mean things that caused the woman to frown. She was not sick! She was not this predator's girlfriend either! She would never want to be such. Did she have a choice? How desperately she wanted the lovely Sebastian to believe her over him. Iliana was so painfully unawares of Sebastian's entourage that were ready to act on his order. How soothed she felt when he admitted his belief in her, that reassuring smile all but soothed her worries, how comforted she was by the gentle pat of his cool hand upon her own. He was so cold. Poor Sebastian probably needed a blanket. She should have known... that Sebastian was a vampire at that very moment. But she did not. No, she was far too enamoured by the englishman to be aware of such things, far too drawn to him and how he so valiantly stood up against a bully. She didn't even know the ease of powers that cradled her so gently. Not that he would have truly needed them then.
How did he know.... That she didn't smell like him? Maybe he had a very good sense of smell. Oh she hoped she didn't smell bad. But she was surprised by the flash of his fangs that he issued in warning. She gasped at them, they looked so... sharp. But he was so nice and so unlike the other vampires she had met. He was not like this other vampire who lied and schemed... he was not like the red eyed boy in the woods. No. She uncurled herself from his arm, her gaze shifted from one vampire to the next. There was such a contrast between the two. She caught a glimpse of Sebastian signalling for someone. But it was the vampire she kept her eye on. They addressed Sebastian as....Your highness. She knew it! He was exactly what he looked like. How imposing they looked, leaving the bad vampire nowhere to go... He was stuck.
Sebastian ordered them around, admitting they were ready to leave. This caught the petite fae's attention, her pointed ears far too aware of the voice of her savior. How easily they listened to his commands. "Yes, what he said. We are leaving, you're not invited." She added with a firm nod, Iliana was clearly unaware of the guard that had his hand upon his weapon or that the situation might escalate to something she did not wish to see. She watched in clear amazement all that transpired. It was like watching a tv show! Suddenly, even out numbered.. The vampire's hand snapped out so quickly that Iliana hadn't even noticed. Illy jumped at the sudden appearance of it and yelped in clear surprise as she tried to pull herself free. How reluctant the vampire was at relinquishing HIS hunt. He bore his fangs like something rabid... Yet... he was aware of those guns. This meal was clearly not worth his life. His nostrils flared as if savouring the scent of fae he had in his grasp. How livid he was, how close he was to enjoy a fae meal... only to have it stolen from him. He cursed, his fangs flashed. "You will regret this... you will.. Both of you." Empty threats and yet... reluctantly... he moved along with a gun pressed to his back. That hold upon her sweater sleeve was released not a moment later.
Iliana's heart raced a trillion beats a second like it might break free from her chest. Perhaps it had wings and it intended to flee her... She was pressed up against the prince. Before she remembered the need to breathe again. How her body trembled and quivered like a leaf. "I... I don't think he wanted to kiss attack me... or you." admitted with a gentle frown upon her sweet face. How terribly naive she was. "But you...you. Believed me. You saved me.. You really are a prince aren't you, I thought you looked like one.. A vampire prince.." She admired. "I can curtsey... very well.. I learned how to." She recalled a life that was no longer her own.
While most of the vampires were the worst.... He was not, somehow she knew this, or at least was quick to believe it to be true. She suddenly wrapped her hands around, practically throwing herself at him, uncaring of the guard that loomed protectively over the prince. "Thank you. Thank you... thank you!" She squeezed him in an appreciative hug, her eyes closed shut before she let him go.... eventually. Suddenly that booth didn't feel as safe as it once did... even with Sebastian watching over her. "Can we go somewhere safe, please? I don't want to go outside alone." She asked all too softly.... Her voice holding a little bit of the fear from that whole ordeal... her opposite hand caressed the sleeve that bad vampire had snatched.
