The more distance put between Harper, her new companion, and the car the better she was feeling and the more tension slowly drained from her body language. She was a little surprised no comments were made about the car but maybe this girl hadn't realised what was happening? Did Harp really get so lucky? That would be an amazing turn! Oh wait, no, there was the other shoe. Her friendly stranger hadn't missed her avoidance and that just brought some of the skittishness back. She kept the grin on her face, though she pulled part of her bottom lip between her teeth, worrying it momentarily. Well, could it really hurt anything? She wasn't like at a complete disadvantage in her human form. Bitch could run like hell if she needed to. "Ah, well, I'm like a ringtail? Or like a ringtail cat, as it's sometimes called." Would this girl even know what that was? Hell, Harper hadn't even known until she looked it up. Not like she had parents that could be like "Oh, this is what you are and here's how this all works." No, no her experience was more like "Harper, where the hell were you? It's past curfew! Do this again and you'll be on the streets!" followed by a lot of "Fuck yous" and more screaming and more arguing and then - Nope, no time to go down that rabbit hole. "It basically means I'm cute as fuck." She laughed, waving a hand flippantly before trying to direct the conversation on so there'd be no time for dwelling. She was boring. She'd much rather learn more about her new companion. Keep the attention off her personal shit and onto someone else's! "Stuck? You can get stuck in that form?" Harper couldn't help the slight alarm in her voice, worried that if it happened to this person who seemed so comfortable with what she was then what on earth could stop it from happening to Harper? The girl who stumbled through things like a drunk on St Patrick's Day?! "Damn girl. Well, welcome to the human world! Where we still eat, sleep and fuck like animals but we have to pay for the experiences by getting terrible jobs we all hate or by mooching!" Harper's exaggerated welcome speech, filled with lots of sardonic enthusiasm, was punctuated with a light tap on the other's shoulder with the back of Harper's hand, her grin firmly in place, followed by a quick wink. Oh right! Names! They should probably exchange those so it's not just "Hey you!" and "that girl I know". "Malia? I like your name; it's nice! I'm Harper." Harper felt Malia tense up, leaving her arm slung over Malia's shoulders while she had an internal panic about whether or not she should remove it. However, when she felt Malia beginning to relax (or at least not-tense) followed by a smile, she decided to leave her arm there. It was all in good fun, anyway. Cause harm? The last thing on Harper's agenda. As they strolled along the street, there were a few times that Malia would be spun in one direction or another as Harper got excited about this or that place, spinning the two of them whole-bodily to look. However, she quit doing that after the fourth time nearly sent her flat on her butt after she tripped on her own feet, laughing as she scrambled to regain her balance and not take them both out. On the mention of cheese fries, all thoughts of tacos and margaritas were forgotten, Harper latching onto the enthusiasm of Malia. Suddenly, all that mattered were cheese fries and off Harper went shoving their way into a restaurant. It was only once they were indoors that her arm was removed from Malia's shoulders, finally removing herself from her personal space but simply because now it was time to eat and Harper was, simply, ravenous. "So, Malia," she started around as she nudged some of the remaining cheese fries on the tray in front of them, looking for the perfect one, "What's there for fun around here? I just moved to this city." Ah, this one! Perfect ratio of cheese to fry. "I mean, besides startling random strangers in nice cars." She teased as she popped the fry into her mouth. (OOC: I skipped ahead a bit through the dinner, figured it would be boring watching Harper inhale her food, ha ha.) |
