East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I was just about ready to start connecting the dots on the wall across from me just to pass the time when I saw movement in the corner of my eye. Turning my head, I lifted a brow as a nurse came straight up to my bed and pulled the curtain around as if to give privacy. Was she going to check out the hole in my leg and patch it up right now? I thought the doctor was coming. Maybe the nurses do all the work here. I played along, moving to face her as she turned toward me...only her gaze seemed to be elsewhere. She looked around the bed and toward the IV pole next to my bed and then something about there being no blood. I scowled slightly. "I wonder what that red stuff running through my veins is, then." Yeah, okay, I was being a smart-ass, my try at being charming. She was cute, after all. Can't blame a guy for trying, right? I just wanted to see if I could make her smile.

When she glanced down at my leg, she asked if that's what I was here for and I nodded. Then she said it just needed a few stitches and wasn't very exciting. "Wasn't exciting when I was skidding down the highway either, but mothers...am I right?" And there I go again, probably being corny and not at all funny. The nurse suddenly started tapping at her lip thoughtfully before she spoke. Something told me she was more talking to herself than anything, at least at first. When she got to the stabbing part though, I couldn't help but arch a brow. "Something tells me you're not a nurse...either that or you zoned out during the oath you were suppose to take." Glancing down at her hand, I watched the blade appear and swallowed before meeting her gaze again. "What, are you a vampire or something? Why don't you just bite my wrist like the little girl did?"
