East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Oliver Burton

It certainly was not a normal occurrence for the business mogul to ever get sassed, let alone willing to actually tolerate it. He dealt with plenty of people within his line of work, but he was always afforded with a level of respect and perhaps even a hint of fear. He was known to work with an almost ruthless precision.

Was this what it was like to have a teenager? He could not help but wonder as Chizue emphasized the word geez, not even bothering to hide the hefty roll of her eyes at him. As if to add insult to injury, the woman promptly after she ordered him for his credit card for payment and she even had the guts to look bored while waiting for him to procure it, hand outstretch as if to prompt that very thing. Yes, this had to be what it was like to have them.

He did not quite comment as he shifted in the booth seat to procure his wallet from his business pants pocket before slipping out one of the many cards, a black elite card that only further alluded to the man's amassed wealth. His waitress did not fail to doddle for a moment longer after her fingers wrapped around that card. But she did not make it too far, pausing on the third step toward the kitchen as if she just remembered something. He would not forget that look that she pinned him, just in time to order him to meet her by the entrance. He had to admire her spirit, even if it caused his own eyes to narrow at the very fact that 'he' was used to being the bossy one.

Yet, now was hardly the place. For now, he would allow it even if he could not deny that the thought of company... sounded nice. It was a nice change of pace, one he hadn't realized that part of him craved. Besides the fact that maybe it also didn't hurt to keep an eye on the woman to make sure she was okay. Something indeed was amiss and he had yet to put a finger on it. At the very least he could make certain that she got home safely.

After she had disappeared somewhere into the back, he waited quietly, his eyes taking in his surroundings exactly where Chizue said she would meet him. He didn't bother to sit, nor did he have to wait too long. She said nothing about the matter, which he found odd. In fact, she almost did everything too quickly, he had almost expected quitting to take longer. She hardly showed much outward distress over what she did as she confidently made her way toward him. He wondered if she did in fact quit at all. Free from her waiting duties, the woman promptly offered the bag of takeaway and returned his card that he stowed away swiftly. She regarded him with a smile he returned as the feminine lilt of her voice met his ears once more. It was time to go. Oliver's nutmeg-hued eyes took in the youthful-appearing woman who seemed hardly fussed at all with her abrupt departure. In fact, she seemed almost eager to leave. Not that he blamed her. He could see the watchful gaze of a woman at the back of the restaurant that watched them both leave.

"Did you do it?"Oliver inquired as they walked out into the fresh, liberating night air that intermingled with the scent of the sea accompanied only rivalled by the tempting notes of his own meal. Although the pair did not linger there for too long as they hopped into a waiting black limousine he had ordered earlier, the pair made their way across town, fortunately avoiding most traffic before they arrived at the suggested fountain that was only a somewhat short drive away. It ensured his meal still remained hot and palatable. As the pair approached, it just so happened there was a vacant bench available. Lights illuminated the area so it brought one's eyes into focus upon the fountain itself, casting a pleasant glow around it. But first, he paused, those nutmeg eyes looking to the impressive fountain to admire it all the way down to the construction and its intricate details. He always noticed the details of such things. Perhaps this was a result of being an architect that his attention would settle to the vast combining elements that made this work with its environment. A pocket of reprieve amongst the common bustle.

The dark-haired gentleman promptly led them to a nice spot on that bench as he eyed the woman and gestured the space beside him. Perhaps it was the bear within him, but the businessman found the sound of rushing water soothing over the chaotic sounds of the city. It was actually quite nice. Nicer than he anticipated. He had driven by it countless times before but rarely did the busy man ever had to stop and enjoy it.

Deciding to break the silence Oliver's rich, accented baritone voice slipped free of his lips in the form of a question. "It is nicer up close than it is simply driving by. I must have at least a thousand times and yet never really had the chance to ever admire it until now. Do you come here often?" He allowed his interest in her to show as he settled his food within his lap. He had been so focused on his own hunger that he realized the woman had nothing to eat.

He has almost forgotten that she was a vampire, but quickly remembered she had food within her stocked kitchen. That meant she ate, did it not? "Forgive me Chizue, I should have asked before but are you hungry?" He spoke to her with a gentle kind of politeness. The man always spoke politely and often bluntly.... but rarely ever gently. He refused for a woman in his company to ever go hungry, it did not settle well with him, even so much so that he was willing to share his own meal, which was even stranger for the man that was quite protective over his food. His bear-like nature merged with the human in many ways that it became synonymous. Which was not a surprise as it was all he had ever known. He looked to his companion... "Do you enjoy this... kind of food? I would be willing to share." He had meetings with vampires before over dinner. They always seemed content to watch but not partake besides a glass of blood. Perhaps he did not think this through.
