The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I can see that I've surprised Nadya by asking what coffee is. It must be a common thing for people in this town. She chooses not to answer but instead waves me after her to follow. I hesitate only a moment before traveling in her wake. While I may not be very trusting of people, I give them a chance first and so far Nadya has saved my life tonight so she's currently in my favor. If I end up in a sticky situation then maybe I'll go about re-evaluating things but so far she's got my trust, at least as much I'll give. When I tell her what kind of Were I am, she is thoughtful for a moment or so before she tells me to go for the ankles. I'm guessing she's talking about where to bite. I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and look at her attentively. I guess that's about where I'd bite a human anyway since it's about all I can reach. Nadya shrugs and pauses on a curb to watch the people entering and leaving a smaller building with warm soothing smells coming out of it. My nose wrinkles with pleasure as I take a few whiffs of the scents. So many different flavors and yet all of them are good. I turn my attention back to Nadya, noting the special attention she's giving everyone that leaves and enters. Is she trying to make sure it's safe? I follow her example, trying to watch everyone closely but I don't smell anything out of the ordinary. Maybe the smells coming from the cafe are messing with my sense of smell. When a certain man comes out of the cafe with his hands full and a strange device to his ear, I tilt my head with curiosity as Nadya moves toward him. Does she know him? Is he a bad person? She looks like she means business. I gasp and bring my hands to my mouth as she hits shoulders with the man, completely thinking this was an accident and I'm worried that she may be hurt from the incident. She sates my fears when she turns back to the guy, telling him that she's clumsy but I note a quick movement of her hand even as she speaks. My brow rises in curiosity, watching as the man says it's okay and wanders back on his way, looking a little disgruntled but none the worse for wear. Once he's gone, Nadya retrieves something from her pocket, a smooth brown thing that smells natural. I step toward her, curiosity getting the best of me as she pulls some green slips out and puts the brown thing down like it's no longer of any use to her. I glance back at it one last time before returning my attention to her, wondering what she plans to do next. At her offer to get coffee, I nod absently, looking back at the wallet once more before following her into the shop. I return her smile, letting it come a little easier this time. Once inside, I grow nervous again, seeing all the people in line and milling around drinking the stuff that smells so good. I stay close to Nadya as she orders for us and I watch with awe as the staff behind the counter mix everything together and give her some wonderful smelling food as well. My mouth starts watering at the smell of it. I notice that she puts some of the food in a brown bag but I figure she plans on saving them for later. At her sudden question, I stiffen and duck my head, looking down at the sweet smelling coffee as I wrap my hand around it, taking comfort from the warmth. "Because life wasn't so easy there. My father...he wasn't the nicest person and none of the pack really liked me. I just got them food." I follow her over to a booth and after some hesitation as I look around at the other people still here, I finally take a seat across from her. I watch as she sips at her coffee, looking back down at mine with a mixture of hesitation and curiosity. I can't help but give her a goofy smile. "I almost don't want to drink it cause it smells so good." I admit sheepishly. After a few minutes, I glance back at her. "So...your pack. Are they nice to you?" I duck my head as soon as I ask, thinking it's probably rude to be asking about her pack if she doesn't want to talk about it. |
