East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He had slept well, better than usual considering the recent upheaval in his life. Normally a heavy sleeper, and found to still be in bed, shortly after noon, Ian was beginning to lose his nocturnal patterns and had discovered that two 8 o clocks existed in a single day. At first the thought had been distasteful, but he was growing quite accustomed to it, besides, he was generally woken up, at least partially so, by the sound of Avi heading out to work.

She did a good job at keeping quiet, if he were a human, it's likely he wouldn't even notice her leaving but his finely tuned sense of hearing was her downfall, and the end of his late morning awakenings. It wasn't something that he minded really, though Avicus hadn't been living with him for very long, he was already accustomed to her presence, and frankly, he enjoyed having her there. He often considered himself quite solitary, but the fiery girl that had taken residence in his house and saved him from a world of debt was intriguing.

He liked her. Not in the sense of a childhood crush, though he wasn't going to deny her attractiveness, he enjoyed her company, though their personalities were vastly different, he liked the different perspective she provided. Ian often found himself quite down when he was left alone in the house while she was at work, and no amount of naps or sunspots could cheer him up. Today was one of those days, and with the weather as it was, there was no chance of any sunspots in his favourite places.

The venture into the city wasn't something he particularly enjoyed, though thankfully he had the luxury of a car, he'd rather that than the bike Avicus had to use. At least he was protected from the elements for the most part, and though the rain still held some of the summer heat, he was bundled up in a hooded jumper and a leather jacket to fight off any possibility of chill from the damp. Still, it took him some time to find a parking spot relatively close to the shop, and even longer to gain the courage to step out into the downpour and despite the grim expression, he was still inwardly excited to get to see Avi at work, and to maybe take her up on her earlier offer.

What began as a purposeful striding down the street became more of a hurried scuttle as he tried to spend as little time in the rain as possible and he blustered into the shop with a striking lack of grace. Frowning, Ian swept the few rain slicked strands of hair from his forehead, the rain dampening his mood significantly, until the forced cheery welcome caught his attention, grinning he made his way to the counter, fingers drumming lightly on it as Avi went through the usual spiel that serving staff are required to. "How come you don't talk to me like that at home?"

He shoved his hood down, ruffling the crushed hair, likely making it messier and grinned at her, as though he had performed some wonderful magic trick. "I don't really want anything, just thought I'd say hi."
