The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

At the instant the young faerie put her hand on Nadya's skin, the woman's emotions seemed to amplify inside of Sam. She could feel the... well, she couldn't quite put a word to mind as to what exactly the young woman was feeling. Inside her was chaos, her emotions bouncing all over the place and no wonder she was having trouble controlling her own change. She wished she was lucky, as some empaths were, to be able to influence her emotions. She would have loved to offer the woman some kind of relief from the turmoil that raged inside of her. Still, she didn't stop the woman from pulling away from her, merely watching as she settled herself behind the desk. Sam stood uncomfortably until the flash of fondness for her echoed in Nadya, and she couldn't help the smile that appeared on her features for the briefest of moments.
Over the time that she'd worked at the burlesque, the young girl had found herself awfully fond of her boss. She would be the first to admit that there were certainly aspects of her job that she wasn't fond of. She didn't like the costumes â€" they showed far too much skin than she was comfortable with. She didn't love the other girls, or the onslaught of emotions that flooded her mind. She didn't like the dancing or the way her feet hurt constantly from the heels she wore. But despite that, she found herself loving her job. She loved Nadya. She would do anything for her, including attempting to reassure her that her intentions with her brother were entirely genuine.
Though she hardly wanted to hear anymore about the vampire that Nadya had mentioned, Samantha sat in the chair and remained silent, listening to the girl's words. She felt a pang of remorse for the girl on the topic of her changing â€" after all, she'd hardly wanted to become a faerie. She seemed kind enough, even if she had hurt Aiden in the end. Still, Samantha felt no need to comment on the words, other than insisting that her intentions with Aiden were only to make him happy. At that, Samantha was rewarded with the ghost of a smile from Nadya. She would tell the girl was amused by her antics and her brief display of how possibly brave she could be when it came to defending her relationship with Aiden.
It wasn't until Samantha mentioned her run in with Raven at the Ark that Nadya's whole body seemed to tense up. She gave a small shrug at Nadya's words. "She's protective. She thought I was there to hurt Aiden." She shook her head. "Despite that I was bleeding when I showed up." She lifted her gaze and sighed, realizing that she hadn't told Nadya what had happened to her. "I went for a walk in the woods one night and came across this hunter and two vampires. The one â€" I assume she was his maker â€" ordered the other one to drink from me. I went to the Ark right after that."
Still, Samantha was relieved when the conversation shifted back towards the real reason that Nadya had asked her up to the office in the first place. At Nadya's prompting, the faerie girl picked up the files once again, flipping through the pages and reading Nadya's careful notes. They were detailed, as her boss' orders tended to be. Simple enough. At this, and the promise that she'd get to be away from the girls, Samantha nodded, trying to ignore the blush that crept into her cheeks at Nadya's compliments. "Okay, I'll do it. You should have known that I would." She gave her a small smile. "I'd do just about anything for you, Nadya." It was the truth, and simply Samantha dropped her gaze back down to the papers so she could see if she had any questions. Still, she could feel the chaos in Nadya raising up again, and slowly Sam shut the files and put them back on the desk. "Let's do something. Let's get your mind off this. What can I do to help?"
