North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

I knew I couldn't blame Audette for her injury, but it did worry me that we were going to be a hot target. Fae blood seemed to be a strong perfume to vampires and while I knew they were few and far between, I did know that day walkers of that species did exist. We needed to get into cover, and fast. I felt guilty though, when I saw the sad look on Audette's face, like she saw something that made her feel bad in my expression. Did I look that displeased about the blood? Okay, so it wasn't the best scenario, but the last thing I wanted to do was take it out on her. I tried my best to soften my features and look contrite. "Last time we had to get me cleaned up and this time, it's you. Trying to make my ego feel better?" I offered a light tease, hoping to smooth things over. It's my olive branch, so sue me.

When I asked after her knee, she seemed to brush the injury off, saying she'd danced on worse. I couldn't help but smirk as I nodded to acknowledge her words. It made sense that she would be tough. I may not know much about dance, but I certainly know I can't very well walk around and leap on my tippy toes. At least, I was able to make her laugh a little when I teased her about finding trouble. She shrugged with an agreement, saying she wished it wasn't so. "Well, I guess it's one way for us to keep running into each other." I offered with a smile. When something (more likely, someone) heavy hit the door behind us, Audette turned to me with a scowl, telling me to head home to my wife. My eyes widened at first at the word "wife." I couldn't help but swallow. Was that next in line for me and Sam? I had no idea. Guess I hadn't exactly thought that far ahead. Just the thought of being a father was enough to put me into a state of shock.

Slowly I came back to my senses though, shaking my head and re-composing myself. "I'm not about to leave you out here injured and by yourself, Audette, even if it is just an annoyance." I said with a twinkle in my eyes. "Besides, what kind of role model would I be for my kid if I did that? Come on. Let's get you home."
