I can see a sliver of distaste in her eyes when she sees the blood donors walking around. She doesn't seem too fond of their presence here so maybe she's not a fan? This gives me hope for the rest of our conversation. I wonder if she's one of those modern vampires that only drinks from a glass. I've heard of those who don't believe in drinking from a live vein anymore. It's getting pretty popular or so they say. I nod at her comment about villages helping each other out. "Yeah, it was nothing to stay out all night at seven years old and know nothing bad was going to happen. Doors unlocked, people hanging out on the porch, complete strangers becoming friends at the grocery store. It's a shame things had to change." She seems to agree with me that having age on on your side isn't necessarily a bad thing. At my compliment, she looks away, her cheeks flushing and I smile. So vampires can blush, good to know. I listen as she tells me about the man flirting with the girl at the bar. I'm surprised that he's a human flirting with a vampire but then I shouldn't be. A lot of humans are almost obsessive about vampires and everything having to do with them.

Kinky bastards. He must have some pretty messed up fantasies. I nod but hold my tongue, not wanting to offend her species. I normally would say something about him being a sick son of a bitch or something to that effect and usually I wouldn't care saying it either but in her company, I don't want to hurt her feelings. I already regret calling her kind blood suckers since it seemed to affect her so I want to mend her opinion of me, not make it worse. She doesn't hit me as the type to go out looking to hook up. She did order a wine, after all. When the guns start going off, she crouches on the other side of the table and I can tell she's probably already in survival mode. I figured she would get up and leave me to my own devices. I know I can find a way to get out of this but let's just say I've always had a weakness for damsels in distress and I've come to like Amelia so I don't want to see her get hurt. I'd rather know she's somewhere safe.

I hold out my hand and I can feel her hesitation. Of course she has no reason to trust me; I know that. We just met tonight and she probably can already surmise that I have a distaste for vampires. Why would she choose to trust me? Now is the time to run because the vampires are rushing the hunters. They might be able to overpower them but I'm not planning on sticking around long enough to find out. There are going to be more gunshots and arrows being shot off first and that's too much of a risk. My eyes widen a little in surprise when she does say she trusts me but I clear my throat and take her hand, leading her to the back exit of the building. Vampires push and shove past us trying to get to the front door and the hunters but I hold tightly to her hand, determined not to loose her in the crowd. I push open the exit door and lead her out into the back alley, looking back and forth to make sure there's no others. I can still hear gun shots going off in the club and some yelling and I hear someone shout "I saw some heading to the back, take em out!"

"This way." I whisper to her, leading her down the alley. I know she probably wants to get to her car for a fast get away but then they'll catch her plates and track her down later, probably during the day when she can't defend herself. I know this method because I've used it myself many times. "We should lose them down the alleys. I'll get you out of this, I promise." I say to her over my shoulder as we walk. I head around a corner of another alley as I hear the back door bang open and a voice shouting. "Come here, vampy, vampy!" I scowl at his comment before a groan escapes my lips. "Dead end." I look up at the building in front of us that cuts off escapes and when I turn back, the hunter comes skidding around the corner, crossbow in hand. Without thinking, I suddenly pull her against my chest and spin us so that my back is to the hunter. "If you're afraid of heights, you can close your eyes. I don't mind." I whisper as wings sprout from my shoulder blades, blue sapphires and green glowing veins fluttering as we start to rise up in the air.
