Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Edie was well aware of the way his movements remained entirely gentle as he pulled her in to his chest, his lips finding hers in a way that was meant to reassure her. She let her body relax just a little - this was Kato, it wasn't Beck. She forced her mind to remember that, to think of all the ways that he was different. It had been what had drawn her in in the first place to him. That snarky, playful attitude had gotten her attention, but the gentleness of him had earned her love. The way he couldn't get enough of her skin drew out that thrill for her, but it was the way he couldn't seem to get enough of her smiles, her laughter, her touches that had made her fall for him. She knew he hadn't meant to hurt her, she knew that. But even if he had, it was her fault.

It was pitiful, the words that were coaxed from her lips, asking if he hated her. The sigh that left his lips at the question had her flinching, her face hiding in his chest. Another pitiful sob escaped her lips against her will, though she couldn't deny the tiniest bit of relief that came with his words. "Don't say that," Edie said very quietly, still not looking up at him. Her fingertips reached up to touch his cheek, her thumb rubbing the skin there. "You could hate me. I make people... I..." She was crashing hard from the drug, the emotions she felt on the memories of her home life only amplified by the vampire blood that ran within her system. Her brain felt like it was going too fast. Where the whole entirety of her evening had been about having fun, now her mind had latched onto thoughts about her past and there was no way to get it to stop.

His words on what was behind her tears made her flinch, her eyes squeezing shut for just a moment to block out the memories that threatened to overwhelm her. How easy her brain could trick her into it being Beck's hand on her thigh instead of Kato's. No, she didn't want to think about that. He would never touch her again. He would never force her into anything again. "You've chased out more darkness than you know, Kato," She said very quietly, moving to adjust herself so she could trace patterns on his bare skin. "I don't know how to explain," She said very quietly, her voice trailing off as she listened to his apology. He wasn't Beck. Beck never apologized. Beck was never sincere with her.

"I know that," She forced her tears to halt. She pulled her leg back from him, moving to straddle his hips as she leaned down to brush her lips across his. "I know you didn't mean to. And you... you have... every right to be mad at me. I wasn't... thinking about you when I went out tonight. I'm sorry." She squeezed her eyes shut ever so briefly, that dark part of her mind bracing herself for his anger. When it came instead with the mention that they should go away for the weekend, Edie's head tilted in surprise. She couldn't deny the appeal of going somewhere else, somewhere only with him. That made her stomach seem to flutter with anticipation, and she nodded, her lips coming to brush against his lips before she climbed off of him, standing beside the bed abruptly.

"Let's go right now." It was anything to distract herself from the thoughts that plagued her mind, the girl oblivious to his hopes that a weekend away might help her open up to him about all the horrors that Beck had put her through. She truly had little intention of ever telling him all of that, if only for the reliving that she would have to go through. No, she wanted so desperately to move past the flashbacks and the nights she would wake up terrified that Kato's touch was Beck and she'd have to talk herself down from feeling outright panicked. No, for now, she would distract herself.

She went to the closet, pulling out her suitcase that Frost had purchased for their trip to Vegas. She wasted no time in throwing it open on the floor of their room, the grin that she gave him almost wicked with her tear stained cheeks and still fast beating heart. The girl's mood seemed to flip almost immediately at the mention of a distraction, her personality moving to hide behind the facade that she was actually okay and not oh so broken.
