To each their own? As if having a name was some sort of curious choice he had made? Very well. If that was the way she wanted to think of it he hardly saw any reason to argue the point. Names, in the end, were relatively useless all the same he supposed. They served but a singular purpose in the method of identification from one individual to the next- something decidedly useless when there was but two of them in the room. Still, it was almost refreshing really not to have another make some foolish comment about his name and his hair colour. This by far the favoured joke of the simple minded. It was her apparent run in with someone whom intended harm upon her that seemed to ensnare his attention more readily, the stallion asking after it only to be afforded a curious answer all the same. Someone, an asshole apparently, had shot her before tying her up and yet once more this idea of identification had seemingly gone over her head. Malia speaking as if 'assholes' was somehow an entirely descriptive answer. The woman, evidently, had lived in the wilds far longer than he had perhaps anticipated if her methods of comprehension were lacking in this fashion. Patience however, was perhaps a distinct virtue of the stallion. Those violet eyes lingering upon her still as he attempted to convey his point once more. His words patient as always, delivered in those same indifferent tones.
"Yes, that is what assholes do- but that does not tell me who they were. Assholes is just another way of saying jerk, idiot or bastard- whichever you prefer. It means 'a bad person' essentially. What I want to know is who shot you and tied you up? Do you know the name of that person or what they looked like?"
Specifics, it seemed, were important with this woman. Frost careful in his chosen words to at least attempt to avoid further confusion. His assurance that he could at least return her to her animal form however seemed to engage Malia once more- the girl eager to begin as Frost gestured for her to follow, the man speaking once more only as she asked whether or not this being she had met sounded familiar. The surprise that lingered within her gaze perhaps giving away she had not know, until that moment, what she was capable off when it came to creating more off her own species. It was, he supposed, an important lesson to be learned if only to prevent her accidentally infecting those humans around her and creating rather a problem for herself with the local hunters. His head nodded softly to her inquiry.
"Yes. Breeding is generally more....pleasant I suppose, but it takes time for a child to be born. As such we have another way. Your saliva, when in your animal form, contains a poison of sorts that will spread the Were virus to a human if that saliva enters the bloodstream. In other words, if you bite a human while in your coyote form you will make them Were. A Turned Were however, is bound by the full moon. They will not be able to control their shifts for a long time and those first few shifts are insurmountably painful- or so I am told. Fortunately though, unlike Hunters or Vampires, those we create have no desire to stay with us, they are not bound to us and many new Were are simply left by their creators to work it out for themselves. They will always be the same animal as their creator though. You will always create Coyote."
He paused a moment longer, assuring she had understood his attempt to explain the mechanics of her own species before crossing that floor to collapse into his favoured chair. Frost evidently holding little desire to stand any longer as he merely gestured to the centre of that room. Her clothing, it seemed, would be a topic for another day as his own thoughts turned towards her transformation. It would be a simple matter to merely force it upon her and yet that would teach her little. She would hardly learn through force even if it was perhaps time-saving in some manner. Still, if she intended to protect herself from being further assaulted by 'assholes' then understanding the command of her own body was perhaps a far more useful too. This idea of forced shifting seeming to sit ill with the woman in turn, Frost offering little more then a shrug of his shoulders and yet that shift in her appearance at the height of those emotions was not ignored. If worse came to worst, he supposed, making the woman angry would seemingly do the trick. His query upon which part of her had shifted first was met with that belief it had been her hands, Frost nodding now, his features contemplative before he offered some manner of guidance, his gaze resting upon her still as he made some effort to encourage that transformation now through that simple focus of her energy. One part at a time, after all, was far faster then attempting to focus the whole body. That would come with time.
Her focus today, it seemed, was far superior to what it had been that first night, her hands already beginning to rearrange before the shock of it saw her gasp and lose that focus. Frost, for his part simply remained silent, offering neither praise nor judgement upon that momentary failing. It was progress and for now progress was sufficient enough. The girl seemingly determined not to look at him and indeed he hardly pressed for it as she tried again- this time her shift very near saw her double over- taking hold wit much more of a vengeance then before as that sudden cry left her lips. Frost content to watch in silence for a few more seconds in the lease.
"Do not fight it, let it happen, your hands have shifted now. Imagine pulling that heat and fire back through your arms and over your body, slowly now, the shift will follow."
She was doing well this time- far better than before- Frost remaining where he was in that ever calm, easy manner. How many of them had made fun of him for his seemingly unwavering personality and that ever indifferent manner and yet, in moments like these, there was perhaps none better for simply remaining calm and wholly steadfast then the stallion himself. Frost offering no more than his mere presence in that moment, watching over her as she struggled through that shift.
"Your nearly there. Once you've finished take a few moments to rest before you stand and then take another few to consider how much harder this would be were you a larger animal."
