Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The Sun Also Rises
It was a matter of pure vanity, he supposed, to allow something such as age to bother him when in reality his form remained forever within those early twenties in which that genetic makeup of his species had so fully taken hold and removed that process of aging entirely from him. Fae one of the few truly immortal species within the world. He had been unchanging in appearance in well over five hundred years and yet still, somehow, that very idea that a magazine had added extra years to that figure so had a habit of making him from. Dorian so striving of late to adapt to that modern world and too- to adapt his methods of ruling from those total monarchies off his time to something a little more favoured and diplomatic within this current era. To have someone, anyone, assume his age was distinctly displeasing, especially when that assumed number was older then the truth. How hard he was trying to fit into this day and age! Such a reminder that his time had long since passed, even despite his best efforts, only sought to make him frown. Dorian wholly oblivious in that moment to the notion that Sebastian seemed to find such a look adorable as his silver eyes all but narrowed with some measure of discontent at that publication- as if his look alone might somehow repair that number before the Monarch promptly declared this alone was reason enough to phone the magazine and correct its apparently innumerate mistakes. That soft chuckle from the man beneath him momentarily saw the Fae glance away from that page and towards Sebastian then. His lover apparently equally as determined to have a number in his own twenties listed rather than one over two hundred as it was now. Dorian so seeming to consider the matter for a few moments before nodding.
"I don't see why not. Perhaps from now on we might request to be listed by biological age rather than years existed. Although, I do believe that makes you older than me."
That warm simper tugged at his lips again, Dorian rather taken with the idea of someone being older then him for once, even if only in an argued technicality. Sebastian having at least managed to reach his mid-twenties while Dorian's own form remained entirely in those slightly earlier figures. Either way, the Monarch was assured such numbers were vastly more appealing than the ones presented to them now. The man managing a huff of sorts at that magazine. His faith in its accuracy decidedly lessened as he settled against his lover once more to so finish that quiz and have Sebastian declared right for him in turn regardless of the utter foolishness of it all. Dorian delighted in the manner his lover so willingly indulged him within it all the same. His silver-hued eyes perused several questions ahead, coming to rest upon that middle name question that had afforded him victory over Sebastian's quiz. Amusement tugging readily at his lips now at the realisation that neither of the three options were even remotely correct. The magazine so having declared his own middle name to be 'Valerie' a name Dorian was almost assured was designed to be feminine in nature, that very query offered to his consort then, the man quite unable to prevent that soft chuckle that fell from his lips all the same. Sebastian confirming it was indeed a woman's name. How poorly this quiz was constructed! Yet, truly, how many readers did it have? Would half the world be given to believe he possessed a woman's middle name? Perhaps it hardly mattered. Dorian pausing if only to inquire as to whether his true middle name at all sounded feminine. Those ready words of assurance from his lover seeing that simper return to his lips all the same. Dorian content to continue with that quiz only once those assurances had been offered.
His gaze was drawn readily then to that question Sebastian had selected, one that inquired as to his ideal first date. Dorian was hardly assured what either of the first two truly were and yet the Monarch was hardly willing to pass up that veritable trip to a gallery. Artworks, in all forms, were off utter delight to him after all. The ease with which Sebastian seized that answer managing to steal that smile to his lips all over again. Dorian paused to consider whether or not he had ever attended either a concert or the movies, the man assured Samantha had not taken him to either in their time together, his brow furrowing slightly before he spoke.
"No, I do not believe she did. These words are unfamiliar to me, although I am assured that evening we went to listen to the music of Chopin that it was within a Concert Hall, is that not at all the same thing? I think I have heard of the movies before although the idea of it confuses me. Sometimes, in the evenings, Samantha would take a movie out of a small box and make it appear on the television. It was like a story that I did not often understand. I did not dislike them all, although I do not understand where one would go to see these movies. If people have them in boxes in their homes why would they go out? More so, if this is seen as a dating activity it seems to me that it requires very little interaction with the person you are dating. All it requires is sitting within proximity to one another, largely in silence, for nearly two hours. Is this not obscure to you?"
That Dorian had, largely, missed the idea of movies was surely clear. The Monarch too failing to have any idea of a movie theatre or how large that screen was or how any of that intimacy might be achieved through sharing an enjoyment of that story with the one you had accompanied. Dorian's lack of understanding of several of those factors, perhaps, largely influencing his judgement of the activity as a whole. The natural curiosity of the man however had been near readily engaged. Dorian glancing almost expectantly towards Sebastian now as if anticipating his lover might understand entirely the purpose of movies even if the vampire had never yet had him watch one. Their home, after all, did not even possess a television on which to play them. Dorian so assuming that perhaps Sebastian too saw little point in spending an evening in such a fashion. It was that query as to his musical tastes however that saw the man's head tilt but slightly. Whom or what an Owl City was he had little idea. The magazine so declaring his favoured song to be a piece he had never even heard! Sebastian seeming equally as displeased at the idea of it, Dorian's lips parting to inform his lover that this...whatever it was....was surely not his favoured song as the vampire turned towards him once more with that utterly straight face to assure him that he could no longer commit to loving him based purely upon this song choice. Dorian allowing one eye to rise upward in that veiled amusement.
"Oh is that so?"
He inquired, the man so working to keep that amusement from his features that so threatened to overcome him, Dorian allowing that truly dramatic sigh to befall his lips as if this was truly disappointing news. How far they had come! How unfortunate it need end now over this Owl City and their Fireflies song! Dorian allowing his arms to fold over his chest then.
"I find it quite curious that I made you chase a cricket from my room and yet my favoured song so features insects. I do not find fireflies pretty, romantic or whimsical. Indeed, I find them unattractive, terrifying and largely panic-inducing and yet evidently I cannot deny the truth of my adoration for this musical piece."
His own features remained as entirely serious as he could make them then, the man so forcing that look of contemplation onto his face as he shifted within his lovers arms to rest near upon the vampire's chest. Dorian so choosing to perhaps do the unexpected in that moment and agree with his lover. The Monarch leaning forward then to press his lips to Sebastian's own, readily stealing that kiss from him, his lips dragging slowly lower to capture that soft pillow of Sebastian's bottom lip between his own. Dorian wholly increasing the sensuality of that kiss before pulling softly away. His lips pressed gently to his lovers jaw, working lower to place that soft flurry of kisses upon his neck and down to his collarbone. One finger lifted easily to capture the rim of the neckline of Sebastian's shirt, Dorian sliding it effortlessly out of the way to afford him even more of Sebastian's skin to subject to that affection. His free hand shifted slowly beneath him, his fingers running along his lover's inner thigh before tracing over the outline of that most sensitive part of the man, his hand moving to abruptly cup him more firmly before that soft sigh fell from his lips again. Dorian leaning away from his lover entirely, gently pushing his shirt back into place as he sat up.
"It would be very inappropriate for me to do that sort of thing to you unless you were my lover, wouldn't it? I suppose I ought to stop. Such a pity."
That almost impish grin danced readily upon his features, Dorian easing himself from the couch then to run his fingers through his hair as he got to his feet, the man abruptly strolling right off and out of the room! He was gone no more than a minute or two, the man returning with a cupcake within his hands only to collapse onto the end of the couch and out of his lovers immediate reach. Dorian so took his time then to pluck that glazed cherry from the top and slip it between him lips, that soft murmur of pleasure humming from within his throat before one finger dipped into that icing, Dorian licking it readily from that same finger a moment later. His eyes flicking briefly to the vampire now. That grin nothing short of playfully devilish.
"I suppose I cannot share this treat with you either. Treats are for true loves and I do not think you have five points yet, Mon Cher. Do you think you can reconsider your love? Half this icing is already gone."
