Sacrosanct contains four distinct neighborhoods, each with their own specific kind of houses and residents. Explore our districts, view lists of our citizens and enjoy our block parties!
Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The cream and coffee colored wolf stretched her long legs out as she lounged in the grass of the packs backyard. Emerald eyes remained shut as Scarlett rolled onto her back, exposing her belly to soak up the warmth of the day's sun. The weather was the nicest it had been in weeks, the frigid grasp of winter relenting if only for today to a more bearable temperature; not that it affected Scarlett, who sported a thick double coat and was designed for harsher temperatures than even Sacrosanct experienced. Ears twitched as she listened to the chorus of birds and the symphony of the trees as the breeze caressed them, occasionally she could even hear the movement of her one of her packmates from within the house. With a deep sigh, Scarlett relaxed, content to quietly lay out here the whole day if she was allowed.
Life was finally beginning to feel normal again for the young Were. She felt emotionally refreshed after returning from her vacation, finally free from the sadness that had weighed so heavily on her mind and in her heart. She was thankful for the patience her pack had shown her, for their acceptance when she was ready to come home. It was strange, losing one family only to gain another. The connection in her head that bound her to the others never felt more strong as she lay in the grass. These passed few holidays had been some of the best she'd ever had, being able to spend it surrounded by loved ones again. Her heart was full.
No sooner had her mind began to drift off, edging closer towards sleep, that she heard a peculiar sound in the distance: a loud bang. Scarlett rolled over and sat up, ears perking as she listened intently as she tried to decipher what it was. A gunshot? A tree falling? Perhaps a firework? The pack house backed up to the southern forest, meaning it could be just about anything. She glanced to the back door of the house, knowing with her canine hearing she was probably the only one who heard it as it came from probably a couple of miles away. Curiosity drove Scarlett to rise to all fours and slip out from the backyard and into the forest to see what that noise was for herself and make sure it wasn't something bad.
Large, chocolate-rimmed ears stayed perked and trained ahead as she searched for the source of the noise. She headed in the direction it had come from, but it had been silent for quite awhile now which was...suspicious. She kept a smooth, quiet gait as she followed to the side of the trail, hidden by undergrowth. Her obsidian nose twitched, catching a faint scent in the breeze. There was someone out here. No, there were two people out here. She froze suddenly, the air caught in her lungs as she recognizes the unmistakable metallic scent of blood. The fur on her hackles raised instinctively, Perhaps they were just human hunters, out looking to snag a dear as it was the season for it, but as she inched closer, keeping low and quiet in the shrubbery, her eyes came across a more sinister scene.
Two dark hunters, armed to the teeth with various weapons made from silver and iron. Her stomach became sick as she watched one knelt down in front of the body of what was definitely a were, as tigers weren't exactly a native species to north america, skinning the poor soul like they were nothing more than a trophy. The tiger was small, perhaps a young teenager, and its paw was stuck in a trap. The clouds overhead began to darken and roll as they gathered under the control of her anger. She tugged at the connection in her mind that linked her to the pack, picking out frosts in order to warn him about the threat not far from there doorstep yet she made no motion to attack, waiting for him to arrive to the location she had told him. Emerald eyes watched as the one smaller man seemed to be keeping guard while the other worked, he took note of the sudden storm rolling in for but a moment before it was brushed off. Her ears flicked to attention as she listened to the larger one who skinned the tiger start talking. "This pelt is definitely going to fetch a high price. But we could make bank if we managed to get ahold of one of the cubs from the pack nearby," he said, sick satisfaction in his voice. "They're probably worth a pretty penny. Even just the mom would be enough. Just got to get by the fucking giant horse they got leading them," the second sneered.
Whatever control Scarlett had to try and wait for Frost to show up was gone as she heard them talk about Nadya and the twins like they did, her family. Anger consumed her, thunder rolling overhead as she suddenly charged out from the brush with a snarl. She lunged for the one standing up, managing to take him by surprise as her ivory canines pierced into his arms.
Emerald eyes watched as his body convulsed on the ground, seizing from the electricity that had hit him so suddenly. The smell of burnt flesh and clothes filled the air as his heart stopped from cardiac arrest. The other hunter stared aghast at the sight of his now dead friend, before he looked back at Scarlett with a mixture of fear and anger in his eyes. A snarl rippled through her chest as she charged at him again, a predatory instinct making her lunging higher in order to grab his throat. He managed to slip a knife out from around his waist, slashing down and cutting down across her cheek and chest as she flinched just out of the way to avoid losing her eye. She backed up, shaking her head slightly as the fur on her back bristled. She circled him, snarling as he kept pace with her making it impossible for her to focus lightning down upon him. They were at a stalemate, both eyeing the other as he refused to drop the knife and reach for a gun and her trying to find an opening where she wouldn't get stabbed. Scarlett was not about to let him leave, not after he had threatened those she held most dear, not after what he had already done to another poor Were. She felt something different inside of her, something that called out to the sky. Scarlett stopped moving, and in a instant instinctively brought a bolt of lightning down on herself.
She should have been no different than the man she had killed, the surge of electricity should have stopped her heart and burned her. But something entirely different happened: her body absorbed it. Her body hummed with the electricity now contained in her and her eyes burned a bright, hot white, leaving her completely unscathed. Like a tesla coil, the electricity crackled off of her, ready to be expelled wherever she sought. The hunter barely managed to keep his balance from the lightning strike, blinking desperately to regain his vision as his ears rang. Once more Scarlett charged at him, but this time as he readied his knife for her incoming attack, a bolt of electricity shot out from her body, hitting him in the hand and forcing him to drop the knife. He had no time to react as she leapt up, teeth sinking into his throat. The pent up electricity immediately was expelled from her teeth into him, causing his body to convulse as she bit deep, piercing his jugular with sharp canines. His body began to burn from electrical burns as his eyes rolled back into his head and saliva foamed at his mouth. She tore at his throat until she was certain he was dead, completely consumed by anger and this newfound power that left her more on edge than normal.
Her ears flicked at the sound of someone coming up behind her as she suddenly released and spun on her heels, a snarl rippling through the air with thunder as the remaining electricity stored in her body crackled through her bristled fur. White hot eyes locked on to this new presence, but she made no motion to move as a familiarity filled her. Her snarling slowly died down into panting instead as the electricity left her body into the ground beneath her paws. Her eyes slowly returned to their emerald color as she blinked, as if coming out of a daze. What a sight she must be, covered in blood and standing over the bodies of two dark hunters. When the power left her body, so too did the adrenaline, and in an instant her body began to tremble from exhaustion and pain. Scarlett tried to take a step forward towards help, but collapsed with a yelp as pain shot through her body. She stared up, her eyes pleading for help but equally confused.
