There was something decidedly adorable about the way that Dorian seemed to be so pleased that he could understand the concept of the debutante balls that Samantha had been subjected to as a teenager. She had little knowledge of any balls that Dorian himself might have attended back in his day, but it was certainly entertaining for the faerie girl that she was able to pluck some sort of recognition from him. "You'd probably love it. If there's ever one we could attend together, I will let you know. I may not be a teenager, but I look it, I suppose," She chuckled, the subject of her immortality usually one of distain, but in this instance, she couldn't help but be amused by it. At least she'd never grow old and wrinkly, she supposed. She'd forever be young and beautiful, and if it could make Dorian happy, she supposed she could suck it up and find one of these balls to attend. "Though if you marry me off to someone, we're going to have a problem."
After all, she was sure that Aiden wouldn't appreciate his girlfriend being married off. She couldn't help the tease that slipped off her lips, nor could she resist the patting of his head. A laugh left her lips at the eye roll that he afforded her. "I doubt that's very kingly, Dorian." She teased, though her attention snapped back to a more serious manner the instant that he began to answer her question. Knowing what she knew about history - and her own love of Pride and Prejudice - she was hardly surprised by the arranged marriages, though the age of nine was certainly surprising to her. She couldn't help but think of herself at nine, just a gangly child. She couldn't imagine anyone being interested in her then. She was relieved, of course, that his parents had denied that marriage, though the idea of marrying at fifteen was just as horrifying. Still, a proud smile plastered it's way onto her features as she thought of him refusing the women simply because he hadn't met them.
"I couldn't imagine marrying someone that I hadn't met." It was a simple enough comment. The entirety of their different childhoods showing in this moment. Sure, Samantha herself had been raised in New York City, a bit of the social elite status of her family having transferred to every bit of her upbringing. Often, she was told that her actions would reflect on her family. But still, at the end of the day, her decisions were her own. Especially when it came to who she would be with. Of course, she didn't think they would appreciate Aiden in the slightest. "But still... I... There were certainly a lot of things that I didn't have a choice in. But at least I was going to be able to marry for love." She frowned. "I didn't realize that you wouldn't have gotten that choice."
Her tease on the vampire lover hardly had her anticipating that the vampire would have been a man. At that, the girl opened her mouth partly into a soft gasp, shaking her head. Of course the girl didn't have a bit of a problem with that - her own sexuality as fluid as the man's seemed to be - but it was still surprising given the time that the man came from. "I... that's great, Dori. I didn't... expect that from you," She said gently, reaching up to brush her hand through her hair. "I've spent some time with women myself, you know." It was a gentle sort of thing, entirely meaning to comfort him, insuring that there remained no judgment between the two of them.
She was thankful, then, that the attention turned entirely towards the walking that she was proving herself entirely wonderful at this whole walking thing that she was being forced to do. It was only when the attention turned to her dancing did the humor go entirely out of the girl, instead she protested entirely to the whole ordeal. Her pleas seemed to fall entirely onto deaf ears, however, the man coming to stand before her as the radio played the classical music she was expected to move to. "Dorian, I really... really... really can't." She still continued to protest, even as he assured her that she could not be an idle queen, nor could she sit without learning to dance. "Dorian, the only thing I'm going to be saying through dancing is that I'm clumsy..."
Still, her retort entirely cut off as he stepped forward suddenly, pulling her towards the center of the room. She bit her lip in an entirely nervous fashion as she was pressed up against his body. Her attention remained entirely on his words, biting her lip once more. "I... I don't understand how I can... do that..." The girl let out a yelp at the sudden movement, her body seeming to follow his without knowing exactly what she was doing. Still, the girl looked down at her feet the whole time, trying to assure that she wouldn't step on Dorian's toes. It was only when his words spoke out to her did she look up once more. "I... if I do that I'm going to step on you."
Still, it was slightly easier to let herself relax if she let herself imagine that he was Aiden. A smile easily made it's way onto her features, the girl completely allowing him to move her. "Now, tell me how exactly I'm supposed to flirt while I do this?" She asked gently, trying to remind herself to breathe, lest she step on toes.
