She thought people said it got easier the older your kids got, but perhaps that was only when dealing with one...and definitely not when they were three. Nadya had promised the twins a beach day for their day off from preschool and for some reason that she couldn't remember now had taken the task on alone. Due to the sudden good weather it was much busier than usual and as such a bit more difficult to keep the twins reigned in. Between the other children with toys and people walking their dogs, Nadya wasn't sure who she was telling to mind their manners the most.
As the day shifted into evening Nadya managed to gather the twins and all their things. "Mama, mama, look!" Izzy pointed excitedly at the lounging seals at the shores edges near the pier. "I see, those are seals." Nadya hardly cast a second glance as she ushered her daughter forward, holding to her son's hand and hauling their beach bag in her other. "I wanna see aminals." Izzy decided to declare and switch her attention to the large aquarium situated at the other side of the pier. "It's getting late, Izzy, it's going to close soon." The quivering of Izzy's bottom lip at Nadya's explanation drew a sigh from the worn young mother. "Ok, we can go in for a little bit but you have to change out of your swimsuit first." Even just an hour would satisfy her and at least it gave Frost some more time in the peace and quiet of an empty house.
Nadya trudged her brood to the parking lot, tossing their things in the trunk and began to strip them of their sandy wet swimsuits into dry clothes. She was only halfway through dressing Micah before Izzy decided her patience, or memory of the command to stay put, could no longer hold her in place and darted from her spot. "Izzy!" Nadya fumbled to grab Micah and follow her daughter whom had zipped around the front of the car, only to collide with an unsuspecting woman. Izzy rebounded from the collision, by no means hurt but slightly dazed as her young brain computed the abrupt stop. Nadya heaved with both relief and embarrassment when she came around to see Izzy's path had been halted. Not running from her and in a parking lot no less was a lesson they were apparently needing to go over again.
Nadya set Micah down and took Izzy's hand to pull her a few steps back from the woman. "Izzy, what do you say when you bump into someone?" Izzy blinked up at the stranger before mumbling, "Sorry." Nadya turned her full attention on the woman now with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, she's a little over excited on wanting to get to the aquarium before it closes. Don't suppose you want one? I have a spare." Nadya joked lightly. She truly loved her children but like any parent there were the good and bad days.
