South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

He watched with wonder as the little girl began to explore the surfboard, standing on it and pretending as though, she too, was surfing. She would prove to be a natural if her mother decided to foster that love and curiosity. Perhaps he should start a surf school here. Perhaps there was a need. "Well, it can be magic. Even in the worst of conditions, I'm still amazed when I can remain upright. I'm not a professional by any means, but I do enjoy it." He had grown up next to the beach, visiting it daily once his farm chores were done. His mother had to practically drag him home most nights to begin evening chores. No one could keep him from the water.

He had introduced himself, not wanting to appear rude in any way. After all, manners were a big deal were he came from. When she took his hand, he smiled sweetly up at her. She introduced her children and his eyes first went to Micah who was quick to hide against his mother. But Isabel was fearless and he knelt down in the sand to offer his hand to her. "It is a pleasure to meet you too, Isabel." He offered her a smile before he stood and turned back to Nadya and Micah. "I am sad adults no longer have naptime. When I was a child, that was my favorite part of the day." Usually he was far too busy to nap, but he did enjoy taking a nap when the opportunity presented itself.

Eyes rested on the child, having a grand old time building a sandcastle on his board. It was a beautiful sight and it made him ponder if he would ever have children of his own. Growing up in the south, it was engrained in his brain that family was everything. You needed family to love but you also needed family to maintain a homestead.

It was her question about his accent that had his eyes drawing to hers. He chuckled, his lips parting into a gorgeous smile. "I only just moved here." He paused a moment. "But you are correct, it's southern. I'm from a small town in South Carolina. I guess I stick out somewhat." He chuckled lightly, not really bothered by the fact that he stuck out here like a sore thumb. Oh well.

However, she mentioned going overseas and his head tilted lightly. "Where about overseas?" She may not be well-traveled here in the states (but let's face it, he wasn't either), but at least she had been out of the country. He hadn't been anywhere but his small town in South Carolina and here. There was far too much work to be done at home. There was simply no time for travel. "I must admit I have never been overseas."
