South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Sure, he could surf better than her, he could read better than her, and he probably was a little more prude than her, but there were so many other things that she could do that he could not. She could hunt far better than he ever could. A coyote was built to hunt. A great dane? They just lounged around all day. His breed used to hunt bores at one point, but that had been long bred out of the breed. Now they were just known for their laziness and gentle giant mentality.

Her comment about not knowing his hunting skills had him chuckling lightly for a moment. "Great Danes aren't exactly known for their ferocious hunting capabilities. If you're talking about hunting the best couches, I'm sure I could conquer that one with ease." He laughed lightly, enjoying this little banter.

But when the conversation toned down, her saying that she liked him just the way he was and that she thought him the best, he blushed even harder that time. It had been so long since anyone had even bothered to pay him any sort of compliments that it was hard to accept them. "I can assure you that I am not the best." There were far more weres that were better than he was in a lot of ways. He was just an ordinary southern boy. There really wasn't anything fancy about him.

He watched her then paddle out, her enthusiasm for catching that next wave making him smile. He was beginning to see the determination in her and he liked it. He admired the fact that she wasn't giving up, no matter how hard surfing was.

But when she fell off the board and into the water, he was right there to catch her. Even as she came up hacking and coughing, he kept her close, his hand moving to gentle pat on her back to help clear her lungs of the water. Secondary drowning was a real thing. He had a feeling her alpha would not care for him if he allowed her to drown.

He gave her some helpful advice, to not lose focus and she might be able to stay on her board. At her banter, he chuckled. "You can share your success after you ride the wave." He nodded his head for extra emphasis before he handed her the floating board as encouragement to continue. And when she asked if she should go again, he nodded. "We'll do this as long as you want to." He would stay out here all day if she wanted.
