East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

She had been curious perhaps, to see if he could even come inside the house without a direct invitation, smiling softly to herself at her own moment of foolishness, chastising herself for believing silly, childish stories when really all Damon had done was prove that the majority of myths the media seemed to propagate were nothing but false. She moved easily into the kitchen, content to allow the man to follow her, yet leaving a suitable gap all the same. Maybe she was willing to talk to him, to host him, to even make him a friend of sorts, yet any thought of touch or closeness from the creature was far more then she was willing to tolerate. It was stretch as it was to have allowed even this much from him, to even have him within her home when she had been so far unwilling to be within the same room as most supernatural's and yet her own need to...better herself, perhaps, to not be perceived as a coward had seen her take such unusually large steps. She moved easily to make his tea, wondering briefly how a vampire digestive system even worked and yet at the risk of becoming hopelessly distracted with such matters she hurriedly pushes the thoughts aside, neatly arranging her good tea cup atop the china saucer, delicately placing a sweet biscuit against the side. The manner of high-society, of older ways, had been instilled in her since childhood. Much to her Mother's chagrin she is sure and yet being born into such a family had carried a certain sense of duty. There had been expectations upon her, the circles her Father moved in demanding a certain level of education in some things and as such a certain decorum, a certain manner had been instilled in her from the start. How to properly host a guest being one of them.

Fortunately, straight black tea was hardly a difficult thing to make, Isla moving to carefully place the cup and saucer before him before heading back into the kitchen to retrieve her own- with plenty of milk, answering his question as more an after-thought, fiddling loosely with a strand of red-gold hair as she did, moving to lift the teaspoon to her mouth, tasting much of the tea's sweetness beside such a thing being considered highly out of character for the proper serving of tea. Oh well- no one was looking now where they.

"I wouldn't go so far as to say I like Were's, but I have a certain understanding of them, at least, anatomically. I'm not really sure as to where I stand in regards as to whether they should be treated by a doctor or a vet though, I suppose that is their own choice. As for why I studied it, well, that was because of my Father really."

She moved to head back towards the table now, pulling out the chair opposite him and neatly seating herself, reaching to nibble on her own biscuit before continuing. Her confidence, it would seem, readily seemed to rise when locked within any kind of conversation or discussion, readily seeming to forget the nature of her company as she did.

"He was utterly terrified of just about every animal, refused to ever let me have a pet so when I finished high school I became determined to have my....teenage rebellion I suppose and took up veterinary medicine. I love it, I love animals and even if it started out as just a way to annoy my Father- it turned out it really was what I always wanted to do. I only have a year left before I graduate. What do you do?"

For a moment another frown seemed to touch her features as she contemplated her own question. If he could only come out at night...what sort of job could he really have? Some sort of...night watchman? Bar work? Maybe he didn't work, after all, vampires seemed to have rather extensive lifespans, and maybe he'd already done the whole career thing, then again, if that was true- how old was he really? Soft green eyes briefly flickered upward, running gently across his form, trying to deduce how old he might be, searching for any indication that he was anything other than...in his twenties. That this involved having stared at him for far longer than was probably acceptable saw that flush of colour sink into her cheeks once more, features feeling hot as her heartbeat quickened momentarily and she determinedly looked back towards her tea once more. As if it was suddenly fascinating.
