The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Her expression turned almost whimsical for a moment as he mentioned her doing the same and writing down her memories and days in a journal. At first, he could tell there was doubt. She seemed to think herself boring but he felt she was far from that. Over time though, he could practically see the wheels turning in her pretty little head and it was like a eureka moment. Suddenly her eyes seemed brighter and she seemed more hopeful, like the ideas were already filling her mind. Good. He was glad he could help. He was also glad for her opinion on the New Eden and how they were related to Isolt. She seemed to have her doubts that Isolt could match their prophecy and he needed that extra mindset to help him make his next move. He knew the danger to Isolt was far from over while they had any inclination to think she could be the mother of the next Eve. He wouldn't let anything happen to her and he was going to need all the help he could get. He agreed full heartedly that vampires couldn't and shouldn't have children. It just didn't make any logical sense. But when witchery was involved, he knew logic had nothing to do with it. They could create light in the dark, make things fly without wings and even bring the dead back to life. What's to stop them from finding a way to make something like a vampire giving birth possible? He didn't see any end in sight to what magic could accomplish and it both fascinated him and even scared him sometimes. Because this could have everything to do with Isolt and he wasn't a fan of losing her, not even for the greater good. He could tell Yumi was unsettled by the news that Isolt could be in danger and he knew she was loyal to a fault to his fiance. That was why he knew he could trust her with this knowledge, that he could trust her to help him save her life if need be. He could see her expression falter a little when he said that he'd already done his research and his brows furrowed. Could there be more angles to this? He wasn't going to say he was perfect in the ways of books. He'd spent most of his human years trying to get as far away from education and research as he could, only to find it was the key to everything when he reached immortality. When she asked what she could do, his expression softened. "I COULD HAVE MISSED SOMETHING AND I'M NOT CHANCING IT WHEN IT COMES TO HER. I NEED MORE THAN ONE MIND WORKING ON THIS. READ UP EVERYTHING YOU CAN ON THEIR CULT AND THE THINGS THEY BELIEVE IN. FOCUS ON ANY RESEARCH THEY MAY HAVE DONE INTO SPELLS THAT COULD MAKE THIS THING POSSIBLE IN OUR KIND. I NEED TO KNOW IF THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE HER INTO SOME KIND OF GUINEA PIG. I WON'T LET THEM HURT HER, YUMI. I'D RATHER DIE." He looked down at the floor, his eyes smoldering with that intense passion when he spoke of those he cared about. Revenge was never far from his thoughts when it came to believing anyone could endanger something or someone he cared about. He was a creature of habit and vengeance just came easy to him. It was practically second nature. When she mentioned the prophecy perhaps talking about a vampire turning another rather than birthing one, he frowned in thought before shrugging. "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, I SUPPOSE. THE ONLY THING THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IS THAT VAMPIRES ARE BELIEVED TO BE TAINTED, SOULLESS, INFERIOR. BENEATH THEM. THEIR PROPHECY CLEARLY STATES THAT THE NEW EVE WILL BE PURE IN ALL THINGS. THAT'S WHAT LED ME TO BELIEVE SHE WOULD BE HUMAN. BUT I'M OPEN TO ANYTHING." He offered as compromise. This is why he needed someone else in on this, after all. He needed a fresh mind. He'd spent far too many days and nights wringing his hair over the prophecy and the research he had managed to dig up. The more he found out about them, the more questions he seemed to have. He was far more interested in Yumi's interactions while he was gone. He was concerned about her safety with the hunter but he wouldn't push it. If she trusted the hunter as a friend, then he would have to trust her judgement. If he ever found out otherwise...well, it would be the hunter's head. He let the subject drop to turn to the matter of her and Isolt living together. When he mentioned pillow fights, she seemed take off guard for a minute before she said it wasn't like that. He smirked, his eyes glittering with humor. It seemed the mention of teasing her about such things as pillow fights was a little too naughty for the girl's thoughts, her gaze falling back to the book in her hands. "AH, I ALMOST FORGOT." He turned to walk over to the counter where the cashier stood by patiently. She had been eying them consistently throughout their conversation, probably paranoid that Yumi would slip out with the book without paying or something. He offered the girl a charming smile to pull her attention back to him before he slipped her some money for the book. She took it with an almost envious look at Yumi, probably thinking he was buying it as a gift for his girlfriend or something. He moved back over to Yumi without a backward glance, not noticing the girl's jealous stare through his back as he stopped in front of the other vampire with a proud smile. "YOU ARE NOW THE PROUD NEW OWNER OF THAT BOOK. ARE YOU HUNGRY?" He raised a brow as he waited for her answer. He recalled the last time they had been out together and he'd seen her use her gift in front of him. It was truly a fascinating thing and he loved to watch her work. He wanted to see it again but more than that, he wanted to make sure he was a good friend and offered her food before they parted ways. Besides, he wasn't altogether done hanging out with her and just picking her brain on everything. She really wasn't a boring creature, no matter what she thought. |
