East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The lady of illusions wondered why he could not harm them. She takes a moment to study the man astutely. She could sense the wave of concern and perhaps the simple taste of desperation that drives the man's actions. Was he not vampire? Was he not built with the same murderous utensils as she? Gifted with the strength to remove a head off ones shoulders and fangs to pry a man's throat out? There was a reason why their kind should be feared and respected. The men after him were fools to think they could take them both.

He continues, explaining how one of them had the speed of a demon. She wasn't worried in the slightest, her gaze remaining stoic. A sudden eagerness swept through her, an eagerness to slay the men that threatened what was hers. She was fierce as a lioness protecting her cub with every ounce of strength she possessed, it was a strange feeling, but one she doesn't question.

He told her they wanted to harm him and it pulled her porcelain features into an unpleasant frown. His hand reached to caress the side of her face, oh how she would react to such a gesture if it were not the man she cared for. The gesture was a small delicate trail upon her cheek, and she craved his touch, despite the tenderness that lay behind it. She craved his affection and in truth, savours and devours it as it presents itself. She relishes it like it was the finest of wines that ever danced upon her tongue, revitalizing her very senses that had once seemed dead like a dried up rose. She lifts her own hand, her fingers encasing his masculine hand as much as it could, the same hand which traced the side of her face. She held it for a brief tender moment, hesitant to stray far from his touch.

Oddly enough, she didn't question these feelings, for the reason that to her, they were as tangible as the ground they stood on. This tie between them wasn't an illusion that made her care for this man. It was utterly and absolutely authentic, or so she thought and felt with every fiber in her being. She only didn't realise it before, what she was missing in this world lacking colour. If only she knew the blistering truth of the matter, one might feel bad for the creature, but on other hand it was a fitting torture to the woman who took so much without asking. "They might want to kill you, but they won't." There was a gentle softness to her words, despite the resolute power of truth that clung to each word for dear life. No harm would come to him, not if she could help it, she would not let them have him. All for the simple fact that he was hers. In these moments that the red string possessed her, she would give her life for his protection.

It was a foreign feeling that seeps through her, but this urgency to protect him gripped her so tight that it might strangle her senseless and still she slides into the role with ease for this very moment everything was clear to her. She pivots on her toes, releasing his hand to face the danger that dare to challenge her. "I won't let them harm what is mine." She claims him so mater of a fact no one could doubt her now.

He questions if she was hungry and it just so happened she had a full on buffet served right to her very feet. "Mmm, oh so very hungry." Her honeyed lullaby is languid and delicious, slow moving like lava and yet just as ominous and destructive. Pale eyes sparkle with devious malice, her lips pull into a twisted smile that is full of the same deception of the illusions she so wields.

He had mentioned her serpents, but what she had in store for them was much more perilous. You see, at the time, when she sent her snakes at him, it was only to teach a lesson and to incite maybe a twinge of fear. Now, her very intent was not to flash a warning like the hood of a cobra, but something far more murderous and dark. This was something altogether different; it wasn't like the calculating hunt she was used to. The stakes were high, foreign emotions thrum through her like a power itself; it drives her power to a whole new level she did not know possible she could feel it pulsing through her. Suddenly, like a clash against reality she creates a wall between them and her, unstoppable, unmovable and fortified so that they cannot see him, the wall created by the king of all serpents. The illusion in itself was enough to send most men running. After all who would want to come toe to toe with a dragon it all its powerful glory?

Just as the men rounded the corner, they are met by the monumental dragon, this one almost snake like as it curls and coils about in a violent and threatening manner. It rises high, towering over them, moving lightning fast. It most certainly would make even the strongest take pause. The colossal creature lashes out, hissing a terrible sound as it does, perilous teeth poised and ready to sink into flesh.

She creates a wall, obsidian like a soul sucking abyss behind them so corral them into her spell. No where to run and nowhere to hid. Without much time, small serpents seemed to come from the shadows she created, striking at their ankles as they form a circle around them to keep them contained. Little did she knew, that their bite drew real blood down their ankles now. "Come now, who is first?" She beckons with a nightingale voice. "How about you speedy?" She coos, raising an antagonizing brow. She wondered how fast he could be without his Achilles tendon and somehow despite her concentration at the task at hand, she finds herself curious of what her vampire though of the illusionist's creations.
