East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

You see, some men could not be reasoned with no matter how many opportunities you offered them. Some men, like this one, the only way to get through to him was to speak his own language. She could tell he was reckless the way his gunshots sounded in a public area, just for one wolf. He paid no mind to the humans we swore to protect, in truth, it would seem they needed protection from him. He was blood thirsty for any kind of blood he could get as long as it was supernatural. It didn't matter if the other wolf was picking flowers, being what they are simply put a big flashing neon target on their backs. There were some that just never understood, some who never even tried to see life through other eyes other than their own red tinted hatred.

The oddly patterned wolf that collided into her like a freight train slowly begins to rise after her tumble. Mira's golden eyes fixed upon her, ears twitching for signs of their pursuer that would soon show his face for that final showdown. She is glad the wolf hadn't been shot in the chaos of the situation, but she knew this sneaky little prick wasn't going to give up no matter how opportunities he had. Judging by his traps he left scattered in the forest, he was relentless and reckless without provoking. She peered down at the wolf that rose upon shaky paws, noticing the scars that littered her almost delicate face. This woman has been through enough. "It's fine." The words were meant to be reassuring, but she wasn't too good at it. She was not good at the whole comfort thing but she gave the best half effort she could muster.

That was when it all came undone, the dark hunter was here. She could feel his presence, her body growing cold. She felt the need to attack, perhaps even to protect this wolf that had seemed almost defenseless. A terrified voice etched in her mind from the other wolf. Run away? Hell no. "I do not run away." Who did she think she was? Some timid little creature who couldn't handle herself? There was no convincing her to give up on this opportunity to get her revenge on her once assailant, the man that nearly took her foot and now recklessly shot at another wolf in public. Werewolves could heal a lot but they could not grow back a severed limb or silver poisoning, she wasn't sure if anyone could accomplish that feat. She would not forgive him for almost costing her paw, hell men were killed for less in her old back.

That was when he stabbed her.

Golden eyes gleam like a relentless growing fire fixated on her true enemy, the dark hunter. She almost didn't hear the stirring of the other ever growing carnivore behind her as she leapt into action, snapping at the man with unrelenting fervor, her size already impressive and intimidating than that of an average wolf. The knife bit into her flesh with merciless ease, the hilt almost buried in her ebon fur of her coat. That damned knife. All she could feel was the heat and that sickening familiar sizzle of silver, her side pulsed slowly but surely. She begins to bleed, the oozing blood bubbling up to the surface to escape around the knife. Fuck it hurt like hell but nothing vital was punctured. She had to stop meddling in the business of Dark Hunters, they only seemed to bring on the pain. But that would be impossible, not if they continued to run rampant, picking fights with the underserving. Coexistence is the only way, or eradication.

Maybe if you watch a large wolf grow into the size of a bear it might make one pause. Mira hesitates, this was one strange place, teleporting panthers and now she-hulk wolves. Her intelligent golden eyes watch this bear-like wolf sending the crippled hunter to the ground before their paws. That swipe certainly packed a punch considering how her crumpled like a rag doll which she then shook relentlessly at his hip. She gave a sound of approval. The man surely would have a hard time walking, considering the damage Mira had done and now with a bear-like wolf, their odds tripled. Guns be damned. There was no escape.

Somehow, in all that commotion, the dark hunter had another blade in his hand, a mere flash of silver before it stabbed Raven in the cheek. The moment that silver gleamed with its promise of malice, she was tried to warn her. It was too late. It would appear the blade didn't exactly meet its intended mark, the man was simply desperate to stab whatever he could. Anything to make that pain stop. Anything to stop that relentless shaking. He screams and shouts at them. The noise was grating upon her sensitive ears and there was no pity for him from either of them. A ferocious snarl escapes her. She could only imagine the poor undeserving creatures that have suffered from the hunter's hatred. The hunt was on and there was no escaping it. The scent of blood, fear, and that undying rage flooded her nostrils.

No, you would not know this feeling that coursed through her in this very moment, unless you were here in this battle lust, feeling these exact emotions. For once she was attacking based on choice rather than an order. Her heart thrums like a battle drum; she could feel it reverberating through her body that now quivers with anticipation. This was where she came alive. This teeter tottering of life and death hanging in the balance, you could practically taste it in the thick air.

Mira wisely kept a watchful eye upon the massive wolf, not entirely sure she could trust her at her back in this state. She no longer seemed like the wolf that crashed into her, almost timid and frail. She was something else entirely now. Call her cautious, but there wasn't many who would simply offer their back to a wolf three times their size in any given situation. There was an opening for Mira to strike, to end this. She grabs it, appearing almost graceful the way she pounces upon the man. The hunter who utters a slew of curses and threats that she knew would be impossible to execute.

He squirms beneath her like many prey before. A large oversized paw pressed his head into the soft ground, as his yelling escalates. He was drawing too much attention. She snaps at the back of his neck in a lightening quick fashion, hearing a sickening snap of his neck breaking. The sound seemed to echo within her whole body.

With a final involuntary convulsion, all grows silent. The hunter was dead.

She could taste his blood on her ivory teeth, dripping in a thick ooze from her perilous jaws. Her wild golden gaze elevates to peer at the other wolf with blood falling to the ground from her cheek. She looked like the thing of nightmares and yet Mira doesn't find herself fearful but curious.

With a rough shake, she dislodges the blade that embedded on her side with a painful jerk. It falls to the ground as lifeless as the man beneath her paws, blood softly leaking into the greenery. The moon's light glinting off the crimson blood that flowed in steady streams. She almost gave into the instinct to throw her wolfish head back and howl to release that triumphant, enchanting and haunting melody into the night. But there was a tension in the air, an unspoken pause, unsure if this creature that took the place of the female wolf before would unleash that fury on her next. She saw in her eyes that there was a void, an unpredictable gaze. After all, maybe her warning held truth. "You are safe now." Mira reached out to the other girl's mind unsure if she was too far gone to even reach her. They had just slayed the true threat, maybe that blood lust was enough to sate this massive creature. Still, Mira remains unwavering, knowing very well that any kind of weakness in this very moment could be fatal.
