East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

This was by far the bizarre meeting she had, had since being here in Sacrosanct. Yes, there were far, far, far too many strange people to count but this was on an entirely new level. How she managed to get stuck with a boy as a roommate and on top of that, he had a pet panda was beyond her! She wasn't entirely sure she could make it through the rest of her schooling if this was how it was going to go. Rubbing at her temples, she hardly catches the way Arlo denies that he could catch any sort of disease, she chalked it up to him being one of those anti-vaccine crazy folks. She wouldn't judge, she had no room to. It's not like she ever had vaccines while growing up. Mostly because her family was poor and couldn't afford it, but look at her! She turned out alright, albeit a bit bossy and hysterical at times.

Still, she tries to appeal to any side she can find, convincing Arlo that it was not a good idea to have a pet panda. There were so many things wrong with having a wild animal with a pet. And even as she explains her side, a bit upset, she can see there is no swaying him. Not even a little bit. So, when he brings up how unsanitary people are at the hospital, she shoots Arlo a glare, hard enough that she could shoot daggers from her chocolate eyes. Sighing heavily through her nose, she folds her arms over her chest, "That's different," she mutters, knowing full well that it really wasn't all that different. Rolling her own eyes at Arlo's admission he would teach the panda to wash her hands, she throws her hands in the air, "Fine, you win. Just keep her off.... Everything, and away from me. I don't like animals," she grunts, turning on a heel and stalking to the kitchen, announcing she was going to cook.

It doesn't take long before she's hacking away at a piece of meat, Arlo's voice drifting to her, that name rubbing at her in an entirely wrong way. She very nearly turns around to point that knife at him, but he manages to correct his mistake almost immediately. Again, another sigh heaves from her lips, her shoulders beginning to relax in the familiar motions of cooking, her concentration entirely on the food at hand rather than the strange man behind her. Until he is waltzing into the kitchen, announcing he would help. Turning her head slightly to look at him, a brow arches at his clear sarcasm as he washes his hands. Though she tries to hide it, she can't help but feel that small smile tugging at her lips.

Returning to the task at hand, she finishes dicing the meat and tossing it into a pan to sear, enjoying the sizzling that rises in the moment of silence. "There's veggies on the counter, you can start chopping those up, just make sure you peel the turnips first," she calls over her shoulder, stirring the meat in the pan. "Sorry.... For my outburst, I-um this is new for me. I've never had a roommate, I'm used to being alone so socialization is a bit hard for me. I get a bit uptight sometimes," she says a bit slowly, not looking at Arlo behind her. Instead she continues to focus on the meat briefly, before turning around and retrieving salt and pepper and seasoning it.

"This city is so weird, I met a girl the other day who lived in the woods! And now I feel like she's being kept captive, her clothes were way too big, I had to buy her a new set. Then I took her to a sandwich shop and she ordered deer and bison meat with berries. I thought she was joking but she was entirely serious!" Miyako explains, her hand stilling at the pan before turning off the stove. "I met the mayor too, he's... different. I can't pin point it but there's something about him that seems off," sighing frustrated, she swings the pan around, narrowly missing Arlo's arm, though she doesn't notice, before dumping the meat in a bowl and retrieving the veggies Arlo chopped. Swiping them into the pan, she returns them to the heat.

"I mean, is the city always like this? The people here are so strange."
