East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I will

rise up

in spite of the ache

Running had been the only sort of thing that kept Henry sane lately. He was able to lose himself in the way his lungs heaved for breath and the way his muscles begged for him to rest. The burning was intoxicating. Running became his new drug. It was safe enough that it wouldn't kill him (assuming his heart didn't burst from all the stress he put on it) and it was hard enough that it kept him from thinking about Sterling...or the Ark...or anything else that might piss him off.

He had been out running when the heavens seemed to open up and flood Sacrosanct in rain. It was the sort of rain that you couldn't see through and it stung as it hit you on the skin. But Henry enjoyed it. There were more sensations, more things to distract his mind.

So naturally it didn't surprise him when he had been running in the rain for over an hour and his body began to shiver from the cold rain. He finally slowed his pace as he came to an intersection. Leaning against a light post (though...this was probably not the best idea in case it was struck by lightning because a wet body, lightning, and a metal light post never meshed well together), he decided to people watch for a few moments while he caught his breath.

He saw some other idiot out walking in the rain. As she got closer, Henry recognized her as Alexis. Thought he didn't know her well enough, she was 'family'...if he really considered his pack family. He watched her closely for a little bit before he saw her start to step into traffic. He saw the car coming before she did. "WATCH OUT!" He rose his voice to a screen so she might be able to hear him over the rain. Already he was pushing off the lamp and running towards her the second he heard the screeching breaks. Mother fucker.

I will rise a thousand times again
