East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

What kept bringing him back to the city? Ian was well aware where Avi was at most times of the day, he knew when she was home and when she was at work, and yet while he made himself scarce at home when she had a day off, he still found a ceaseless need to wander into the city. And always he found himself lingering beside the coffee shop, as though he would one day have the guts to go in and straighten this situation out.

Still, there had been good things to come of this bizarre habit he had formed. He had managed to find a new job, possibly even a friend in this strange backwards city, maybe he'd even get the opportunity to sort out the mess he was in without having to worry about Avicus anymore. Yet it wasn't the money that he was worried about, the funds were starting to replenish themselves and he was able to relax knowing he wouldn't be evicted any time soon. There was something that kept prickling at the back of his mind, there was something about his obsession with Avi that was beginning to become unhealthy.

His usual lackadaisical attitude had begun to recede, he was tense and fractious most of the time, walking a knife edge between stoic and sullen. Today was no exception as he finally steeled himself whilst heading into the café. Fortune favoured the brave, however, as he made his way to the counter, prepared to finally confront Avi â€" he found it was her co-worker, Emily, or something like that. Obviously the fiery girl with the smoke grey eyes had taken her break just as he had gotten the courage up.

The girl behind the counter recognized him, but he only could pinpoint it through the subtle narrowing of her eyes just before she gave him the usual welcome spiel. Ordering just a simple hot cocoa in a low voice, going through the usual exchange he took the mug slinking through the café with a feline grace that he no longer attempted to hide. Inked fingers clasped the mug tightly as he shot a glance into the corner of the room, easily identifying his housemate and current obsession, she didn't look up once, unsurprisingly.

Eyes downturned he took his seat in a quiet booth, opting to be as close to the window as possible to catch the most rays as he could.
