I haven't gotten out in a while so I guess a masquerade party won't be so bad. Could be worse. I could jsut continue being a hermit while I try to find a lead on Alice's killer, but there's nothing wrong with a night off, right? I slip easily into the three piece suit, grabbing a mask out of the specialty drawer. I'm used to going undercover in all kinds of situations so I have something for just about every occasion. I pick out a silver and black mask. It even has a red tear sewn under one eye hole, perfect to suit me. After sliding into some black dress shoes, I head out the door, eager to meet new faces. The walk is nice since there's a cool breeze blowing. The moon is out but the stars are blocked by the city lights. Still, it's a pretty night. I fed earlier or I might be getting hungry. It doesn't take me long to find te right building. I can easily spy the hunter at the front door but he looks a little preoccupied if you ask me. A dark haired witch seems to have his ear so I slip on past with a knowing smirk in their direction as i head into the crowd. I can sense the other vampires in. It's almost like walking into a bee hive. Most of the vampires around Sacro seem to be pretty young but there's a power here, a power I can sense down to my very bones. Curious, I scan the room. I catch the tension going on at the bar. Looks like two hunters and two weres. A couple war? Sounds like fun, but that's not what I'm looking for, not at the moment anyway. I keep looking and that's when I see them. There's a group of vampires and weres hanging out toward the middle of the room. The red head is a catch to be sure but the vampire beside her looks pretty taken and I didn't come here for a fight so I'll back off for now. The two weres across from them seem pretty into each other but that's not what I'm looking at. There's a young man who seems to have just joined the conversation. I feel like I'm staring daggers right into his back. It's him. It has to be. My face is a mask of hope and confusion as I move through the room like a ghost. I don't stop till I'm right behind him, till his sweet cologne is surrounding me. I fall to my knees before I know it. Everyone may be laughing at me but I could care less. I stare up at him like a follower looks to their god, my hands up, wanting to reach for him but refusing to without his permission. "Taro...I found you." It's spoken like an answered prayer. I have searched for my maker for centuries. I searched for him until I couldn't anymore. I could feel that he was alive but I couldn't find him cause he didn't want me to. It was my only distraction until my prodigy Alice was killed. Revenge became my addiction then but he was always there, haunting me. I had to know that he was okay, that he didn't need me. I never thought I would run into him here of all places, at a masquerade party. |
