Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Just another Night to Kill

I feel like a huge dick right now. She told me that she goes to the Ark all the time so it should have hit me that she knows someone there. Of course we never really touched on the subject of relationships. I was offering innocent flirtations but she never confirmed or denied that there was anyone special. I should have known, though. She's beautiful, after all. Of course, she wouldn't be single.

And now I'm making jokes about her dead boyfriend, the boyfriend who happened to die right in front of her. How traumatizing that must have been for her. I wish I could take it all away and console her in some way. I just don't know how.

She pulls her knees to her chest, her arms wrapped around her like she's trying to hold herself together. She acts like she's falling apart and I don't know how to help. Sure, I've loved my fair share of people, both human and other, but I can't say I've had anyone burn to ashes right in front of me. I can't begin to imagine how she must be feeling but I know I can't just leave her like this. She's a sobbing mess and what kind of friend would I be if I just left her?

I can feel her gaze on me and when she speaks, I slowly lift my head, soft agonized gaze meeting her own. I shake my head. "No, it's not fine. Nothing about that is fine." She leans her head on her knees and I reach out as if to stroke her hair but think better of it, my hand stopping short as I pull it back down. I bite my lip and look down again, taking another deep breath. I've never been good with upset girls. She tells me she's not mad at me and I feel a little bit better, but only for a second. I can't be happy while she's hurting.

She looks so fragile wrapped up in that blanket. So small. I shake my head vehemently. "No, don't you dare do that to yourself. Nobody dies because of someone else unless you were the one lighting the....nevermind. Sorry." I sigh and try to start again. "You're right. I didn't know him. But I'm sure if he's anything like the guy you described then he wouldn't want you beating yourself up like this. He wouldn't want you to blame yourself."
