Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
every king had a story, of ancient glory, sweetly told
He had hardly anticipated in any sense that Sebastian might so take up that tease he was offered with, the vampire promptly announcing that it was entirely possible to have a home designed to play music throughout its entirety. Dorian momentarily caught off guard at the very notion it was actually possible and, if Sebastian was to be believed, not difficult to install at all. How marvellous this modern world was! Even if so many of those modern conveniences were, to Dorians understanding, largely pointless or frivolous the very notion they existed was decidedly enchanting to him all the same. That surprise continued to linger upon his features for several long moments, the Fae King content to allow his thoughts to absorb themselves in the idea of such an ancient French structure brought so firmly into the modern world with such conveniences. Dorian quite assured he rather liked the idea. How amusing it truly was to consider all those years he had spent so essentially living within that unchanging world only to so quickly come to embrace the technologies of the modern day. How he had ever existed without electricity he hardly knew. His treasured ipod and the water that ran straight from the taps further modernity the Monarch was assured he would never give up again. Dorian even having come so far as to decide he preferred to travel by car rather than horse, even if the very mention of any sort of car accident continued to terrify him.
It was only at the approach of that town that the Fae readily turned back to his lover then, requesting Sebastian closed his eyes even despite the decided pointlessness of the gesture. His consorts head resting on his shoulder a moment later and in a fashion Dorian found decidedly endearing all the same. How quickly he had come to relish these moments of peace and quiet when it might be just the two of them and any excursion out of their home or his palace did not need meticulous planning to undertake. His fingers easily ran through his lovers hair, arranging several of those dirty blonde locks as Sebastian snuggled only closer, that soft chuckle rising from within him as they finally arrived at that destination he had chosen for the evening. It was a simple matter then to guide the vampire from the car and into that store. Dorian waiting for those shades to be drawn and those doors to be locked, keeping that outside world at bay and relatively in the dark to their location before promptly announcing those benefits to their newfound fame and at last allowing Sebastian to open his eyes to enjoy just those very benefits.
It was that very grin upon his lover's lips that had surely made such planning entirely worth this singular moment. How he adored to see that grin! How he simply loved to see Sebastian happy in any sense. It was foolish surely and yet Sebastian' delight so had a habit of stirring much the same emotion within himself. His Consorts veritable sweet tooth entirely well known even amongst his own Italian Court, a visit to Frances most awarded chocolate store a decidedly simple and yet surely enjoyable display of that simple affection he felt for that man he loved. That paper gift bag was no sooner handed to his lover then Dorian so found himself promptly dragged to that first display of treats. His lovers near infamous ability to remain indecisive so already seeming to afflict him as the vampire fussed over just which chocolate he might desire to try first. Sebastian's words tumbling from him in a near constant stream and yet here and now the Fae King so hardly found he minded that ready animation that seemed to ensnare his Consort.
His own gaze drifted from one chocolate to another in some effort to keep up with Sebastian's excitement. A great deal of those treats utterly unknown to him. Chocolate, after all, had hardly existed in the same way in his own time as it did now. Many of those flavours and shapes unique and new to the man. The idea of chocolate pretzels or fudge seeing that near quizzical look touch his features before Dorian so at last afforded his lover that simple knowledge that he had hardly tried any of those treats he mentioned. This singular realisation seemed to see the vampire pause, that look of utter disbelief forming upon his features before that terribly long sigh fell from him. Dorian's own eyes rolling softly at such theatrics and yet he could hardly help that simper that found his lips in the wake of it, nor that chuckle that rose within him at the gusto with which Sebastian took up that task. The vampire decidedly serious in his undertaking of choosing just the right treats for Dorian himself to try even if the Monarch had been determined to assure such an evening was about Sebastian alone. His own hand squeezed the vampires gently, Dorian at least attempting to remind him that he could surely have another bag if he had trouble deciding on just what he wanted. Sebastian seeming to decide a moment later on just what he desired from that first stand at least as he held that bag out to the woman, Dorian himself choosing to try that singular flower shaped chocolate, the taste near melting upon his tongue with that heavenly sweetness.
It was the sudden approach of that very head chef however that seemed to draw the attention of both men. The Frenchman bowing to each of them in turn before announcing his intention to afford them a gift of specially made chocolate. Dorian's own silver gaze shifted abruptly then from the man himself and towards the woman holding that plate, his eyes falling near instantly upon those two hand-made chocolates so perfectly decorated to represent the shields of their individual houses. That gasp that fell from Sebastian lips so surely matched that look of awe upon his own. Dorian never before having seen chocolate crafted in such a fashion as this! That mix of milk and white and dark so perfectly formed his own griffins and the shield they held, just as it coloured Sebastian's own lions. The manes of the creatures crafted from gold leaf just as his own were styled, that crown that rested above his own shield equally golden. Dorian near assured it would be a veritable crime to actually eat it. His gaze shifted but briefly to glance at his lovers own, the Monarch at something of a loss for words and he had little intention on insulting such a craftsman with his lack of response, those words abruptly tumbling from him then, Sebastian readily following suit with that praise. That Frenchman appearing for all the world as if he might burst with delight at having royalty praise his craft. The man proceeding to explain just how he had crafted several of those elements. This idea of 'tempered' chocolate readily ensnaring Dorian's attention if only for how very shiny such a technique seemed to render the chocolate itself.
"Do you think perhaps you might box your gift for us? I quite think we should look to show your work to several others before we partake of them."
Truly Dorian held little intention of eating such a gift at all if only for how fine it truly was, the idea they might wish to show it to others seeming to delight that chef all the same as he hurried to have those chocolates wrapped for them before wishing them a pleasant evening and assuring them he would be about to answer any questions should they have them. How unexpected such a gift had been! His attention returned then, largely, to allowing Sebastian to continue to drag him about that store in clear excitement and determination to fill at least one bag with those treats. Dorian content to eye that veritable art that chocolate could become as they did, his own thoughts readily considering just how practical it might be as a medium to work with.
"You know, I quite think I could make this Bastian? Not these sort of flavour combinations of course, I can hardly cook, but I quite suspect I could craft something artistic out of plain chocolate if given the time to learn how it sets- and so provided you did not eat it."
That simper found his lips once more before the Monarch so made his way to that fine chaise lounge situated to the side of the room. Dorian content to recline upon it and merely watch his lover finish choosing those final chocolates before the vampire at last returned to his side, the Monarch shifting to make room for his consort beside him on that lounge. Dorian near assured Sebastian had already eaten several of those chocolates. The Fae near about to comment upon giving himself indigestion before the notion that vampires, perhaps, simply did not get indigestion seemed to occur to him. After all, how often did they truly consume food? His head shaking softly as he dismissed such an idea before gently holding out his hand.
"What am I to try first?"
His enjoyment of those sweets was not quite as excitable as his lovers own and yet the man was entirely willing to indulge him in trying those pieces he had chosen for them. A singular member of that staff approaching them once more to hand Dorian that box so containing those specially made chocolates, the Fae resting them upon his lap, his features frowning slightly in consideration of those very family crests. Dorian, after all, having spent several days that week past working upon an idea of sorts for just those crests. One in which he was yet to show to his lover. Dorian hardly concerned his Consort might dislike his designs, rather, the Fae King remained distinctly determined to introduce those changes to his lover gradually- if only so he might become better used to the idea of just what his role as Prince of Italy might entail. Even if Sebastian had not quite yet come to realise just what his new title would be. His gaze glanced back up to his lover then and away from that box.
"Bastian? I have been working upon something for a few days when we were in Italy and I thought perhaps you might care to see it?"
His hand reached easily into his pocket then, fishing that phone from within before bringing up those photographs he had taken of those drawings he had made while in Turin, turning that phone towards his lover to view in turn. Dorian finding himself near....anxious for just what his lover might think of those designs. After all, Sebastian's opinion on near all things mattered so decidedly to him. That first drawing depicted that shield that featured in the centre of both their individual crests, Dorian not yet having filled in those parts of it, rather he had focused upon what held up that shield. The Monarch having removed one of his own griffins from the left, replacing it with a near perfect rendition of one of Sebastian's lions. That shield now held up between one griffin and one lion in turn, both animals upon their hind legs, their forelegs holding that shield, that crown drawn in neatly on the top- signifying the royalty of that combined family house. Their house. That second picture a coloured version of the first.
"We will need to change the insigna on the Royal crest when we are married and I thought perhaps...something like this? I thought we might decide on what should be in that shield together later and what on earth we are to have for a motto I don't know but, do you think you might like something like this? If you should like the lion positioned differently I am sure I could draw it any way you liked. What do you think?"
