Sacrosanct contains four distinct neighborhoods, each with their own specific kind of houses and residents. Explore our districts, view lists of our citizens and enjoy our block parties!
Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He would be lying if he said he didn't want anything from Adelaide. The only differene was that he wanted everything in a certain order. He was utterly attracted to her and couldn't deny that for a minute. He just didn't feel that he would ever be good enough for her. He loved that she listened to him, really listened without judgement. She encouraged him, something no one but his mother had ever done. Even Becca had done her share of riding him and doubting his abilities when he tried to open up to her. It was like she and his father shared a pyschic link or something. He loved that she listened to him. He yearned for that companionship. He wanted to know more about her, as much as he could possibly know. He wanted to help her realize her dreams of independence, of knowing she'd never have to go back to Paris if she didn't want to. And yes, he wanted to kiss her. Just a taste, just to know what it was like. Just to see if there was anything there, anything on her part. Maybe she'd just slap him and tell him never to try that again. And he never would. But when he looked in her eyes sometimes, he swore he saw something, something he shared. She didn't shy away from looking him dead in the eye while she fastened her helmet. They had their own silent communication this way, just with eye contact. It was alluring all in its own. He could read the excitement in her eyes, the desire to feel that rush again on the back of the bike. He wondered if she'd ever want to drive the bike some time, with him on the back of course to help steer if it was needed. She might love it. But for now, he was glad to have her wrap her arms around him again. He saw the slight raise in her brow, the silent question that had him clearing his throat and looking down at his hands since it was either that or he'd have to answer and that answer might ruin their whole night if it wasn't what she wanted too. He didn't want to ruin this, more than anything. The connection they had, he'd never seen anything like it before. She was a great friend to have, he was sure, and yet he hungered for more. They had only just met and he had to keep reminding himself of that. He couldn't just jump overboard with her and hoped she went along for the ride. No, he couldn't do that to her. He wanted to test the waters, dip his toes in first and get used to the current. He didn't want to lose this connection for anything, and definitely not for his manly urges. She was worth so much more than that. He drove down those city streets without fear but still ever cautious of the precious cargo he was carrying with him. She tightened her hold on him with every turn and he felt himself melting into it, enjoying himself, a boyish grin on his lips as he drove along. As he drove up the hill, the stars seemed to intensify. He knew they would look luminous at the top where he planned on taking her. They were part of the reason he loved this place so much. He parked the bike and reached for her hand, smiling gratefully as she took it and followed him to the slit in the fence. She made a wry comment about him knowing about the slit if he didn't cut it and he laughed. "I actually was running my fingers along the fence, wondering if I was still nimble enough to jump it but then my finger caught the edge of the cut and then I knew it was fate that I get on the other side. Someone must have had the same idea. Or they just came here to do shady stuff like sell drugs." He shrugged it off like it was nothing big. He hadn't run into anyone else up here before when he'd come so he wasn't too worried about it. And he'd never been caught or questioned. And he certainly wasn't going to let anything happen to her anyway. He led her through the trees to the very top of the hill where the spectacle of the city spread out before them. She seemed to hold her breath as he looked at her from the corner of his eyes and his lips quirked, glad that he could bring such an expression to her features. She agreed with him that it was peaceful and beautiful and he nodded. "It's the only place in Sacrosanct where you can see the stars. The only place I've found, anyway. I miss the stars sometimes. I could see them every night in my home tome. I didn't even know I missed them until I came up here and saw them for the first time." He smiled wistfully as he glanced up at them. He felt her lean against his side and he let his arm wrap around her waist almost as if it were natural, his fingers gently tracing her side through her shirt in a comforting gesture, up and down as she rested her head on his shoulder. He had the sudden urge to turn his head and kiss her hair but feeling that may be too much, he kept his eyes forcibly on the stars overhead, taking a deep breath. The questions took him off guard a little and he blinked, his gaze slowly moving to meet hers. "My life, the direction it's going. I want to do better, be better. I feel like I've wasted the first part of my life running in place. I want to go somewhere in life. It doesn't even have to be physically going anywhere, just to know that I've accomplished something, made a good decision for once." When she mentioned a girl, he chuckled, looking down for a minute as he shook his head. "No special girl, not anywhere in the past anyway. She broke my heart when I found her in bed with my coworker. Not even the best friend cliche in the movies or books. Just a guy I knew and even slightly felt sorry for. Guess that's irony for you. He was probably pitying me the whole time he was fucking my fiance." He let just a little pain slip into his voice as he said the last part, even some bitterness clicking in the way he used the brash word in front of her. He offered her a sheepish smirk. "Sorry for the language. Still a sore spot, I guess." He looked back up at her, his face sobering, his eyes twinkling anew, almost as bright as the stars overhead. "I want...a lot of things in life. I just know I'm probably not entitled to have every single one of them." His voice softened almost with a sadness as he said it, his gaze searching her face as if hinting at just what one of those things would be that he didn't feel he deserved. He fought the urge to bring his hand up and cup her cheek, just to touch her, just a soft intimate gesture. He felt almost afraid to make a move when it came to Adelaide. Not because he didn't want to, not because she scared him. But what he was starting to feel, what he was sure was making his very heart twist as he just looked at her, terrified him. He was scared of rejection. He was scared of pushing her away. He was scared of losing her. |
