Nadya found herself being pulled from that blissful sleep by a soft sound. Her nude form shifted slightly in the warmth under the blankets beside Frost, forcing her eyes to crack open and glance to the baby monitor perched on her nightstand. The twins were up; Micah playing quietly with his blocks while Izzy marched in a large circle chanting 'mama'. By the light that filtered through the curtains of the bedroom, or rather the lack of, the young mother could tell it was far too early to be so awake. With a soft groan she rolled back over to press against Frost; her body aching delightfully in reminder of the previous night. "RÃkarður..." She pressed a gentle kiss to his shoulder and spoke softly so as to not rouse him too fully. "I'm going to take the twins out on the path to wear out some energy."
They had planned on having their training today but it wouldn't happen if the twins were too riled up that Malia couldn't handle them. Nadya's only hope was to take them out and let them expend their energy as much as possible beforehand. She slipped from the bed, wrapping her stain robe about her before leaving the bedroom so Frost could enjoy his weekend sleep-in.
Mist still clung heavily to the earth when Nadya finally got the twins bundled and out the door. A soft rumble escaped her throat as her large feline head thumped into Izzy's back to encourage her forward, away from the back of the house and up the pathway that led to the forest. It was a path she was well familiar with, taken the twins on a dozen times already, so she had no hesitation in another trip. The familiarity meant she felt comfortable letting the twins explore along the way.
Nadya hadn't been paying attention to how far they had gone, exhaustion causing her head to hang low as her paws scuffed across the frozen dirt trailing after her boisterous brood. That had been her first mistake she supposed...she had become complacent due to having been on the path before. It wasn't until she finally noticed how very quiet it had become, the only sound coming from her children, did her ears twitch and her head raise. Even the morning birds had ceased their twittering. A short chuff saw the twins slow in their steps and glance back to their mother. Nadya brought her lean muscular body forward, brushing her form against them as she took a few strides further, listening to the eerily quiet void and searching that dense white wall.
It made her skin crawl. Something wasn't right and she wasn't about to investigate further when the twins were with her. The ebony jaguar turned right back around, about to nudge the pair back home when one of her back legs stepped in leaf litter on the narrow path. What had been hidden beneath it was beyond her imagination. Steel teeth sprang up and impaled into her leg, immediately ripping a throat wrenching roar from the female as pain blinded her vision. The twins jumped but stood rooted to their spot in confusion on what to do.
The panther's body twisted and cracked as her animal form was shed for her nude human one. A pained scream escaped her as the teeth dug in more to the larger leg it was now confronted with. She quickly bit down on her lip to stifle her scream, blood welling to the surface of her lip from the force. "Go, hide...there." Nadya grabbed the twin's arms and shoved them as best as she could towards the dense bush not far away. "Now." Even at their age, just a weeks shy of their 3rd birthday, they understood what was being expected of them. There was hesitation in their movement, not wanting to leave their mother's side but the urgency that she kept shoving them away had them following orders.
Nadya's head swam as the pain persisted, forcing a ring of blackness in her vision that she had to shake her head to keep at bay. Her attention returned to the bear trap latched onto her leg and tried to concentrate her ability on it. The heavy metal chain gave barely a shiver at her explosive ability. She was in too much pain to concentrate enough to blow it up. Instead she turned wholeheartedly to the pack bond, striking that bond between her and her Alpha with as much urgency as she could muster. It was then that heavy footfalls sounded, crashing through the forest until two men parted through the mist. "Remember they want it alive." One spoke to the other as he cautiously shuffled forward as the other slowly moved opposite.
By this time Nadya was breathing heavily as she watched them move as if to come from either side of her. As long as they knew nothing of her children she would keep their attention as firmly on her as she could. Nadya noted that one was holding a loaded syringe at his side, so once more tried to concentrate to her abilities though it only managed the man to flinch with a grunt. Her pain ability ended as quickly as it started as it drained too much of her energy which was leaving her as fast as the blood from her leg wound. "Bitch." He grumbled, "Hold her." He commanded to the other who lunged forward at Nadya. Just because Nadya had never learned how to fight properly didn't mean she was about to go down easily. She swung at her attacker, twisting her arms as he tried to hold on to her. Her strikes were weak though and her movements labored as the black in her vision was getting thicker and she could feel the impending darkness that called to her. In that moment Nadya wasn't sure she was getting out of this one.
