She caught the blush on his cheeks. It was very adorable. When she tried to shrug off his compliment about her being smart, he surprised her by pushing it, saying she was smart and how she could hunt and wasn't fearful in new situations. She tilted her head, considering him for a moment before she spoke. "I'm sure there's plenty of stuff you can do better than me. Surfing, for example." She smirked. "And I wouldn't know about your hunting skills until I see them in action." Her brows lifted in daring. She smiled at the end. "I like you just the way you are, Ashton. You don't have to be any better than you are cause I think you're already the best." Then she was paddling with the wave, trying her best to stand up. She liked the little moment she had with Ashton. He seemd to be lowering his guard a little more around her, letting her see more of who he really was. She liked the man he was and the more she learned about him, the more she was finding herself hooked. She pushed herself to stand and it was all she could not to whoop and jump up and down on the board when she found herself on her feet. Good thing her footing was so wobbly there was no way she was going to try that anyway. As she turned to tell Ashton about it though, the board was swept out from under her and she fell into the waves. She inhaled some water and by the time Ashton brought her to the surface, she was coughing and hacking. He told her she did good and warned her not to lose focus. Even though her eyes were watering from all the coughing, she still smirked. "What? And not share my success? Impossible." She nudged his shoulder playfully before pulling the board back to her. "So, again?" |
